With the world going mad about the coronavirus and stockpiling on their supermarket shops are we going to be able to support our local foodbanks and get food and supplies to those that really need it??? I’m not so sure after seeing and hearing about the empty shelfs in most supermarkets across Epsom and Ewell.  If you are thinking about stockpiling please do think again 🙂 I’m in no doubt that the coronavirus is a very serious epidemic and we should be following guidelines but if you were to catch it just how much toilet roll and dry pasta and noodles would you need???

On that note here’s a quick update from the Epsom and Ewell Foodbank on what they do and don’t need:

“Our warehouse staff continue to work hard to ensure that we have the right stock and things are given out in the correct date order. A bonus effect of this is knowing which items we have in abundance and don’t need. This list has just been updated so please note we DO NOT NEED the following items – baked beans, pulses, soup of any variety, rice, pasta ,bars of soap, UHT milk red top, panty liners, shampoo, washing up liquid, cereal, porridge, tinned fruit, sweetcorn, children’s toothpaste and children’s toothbrushes.”

Whilst they do not need the above items now this may change – SOON!<

The list of items currently needed are as follows –

    • Tinned meat
    • Tinned meat pies
    • Pump hand soap
    • Longlife juice – urgent
    • Nappies – size 4 & 5 only
    • Baby wash
    • Adult toothbrushes
    • Adult toothpaste
    • Sugar – 500g
    • Longlife milk – blue full fat
    • Powdered milk
    • Ladies deoderant
    • Shaving foam
    • Noodles
    • Hair conditioner
    • Bags for life

You can donate at any of our points listed here on the Epsom and Ewell Foodbank website – and also All Things Nice, Ewell Village.  You can also arrange an on-line shop to be delivered directly to the foodbanks local HQ.

I know the foodbank appreciate all of your support so thank you on their behalf.

Dee xx
