Hello again!

I hope that you have a wonderful day today celebrating VE Day safely in your homes and on your doorsteps. We will be having afternoon tea at home, and then we will be singing with our neighbours in the evening.

For those who would like to have a day of festivities, here are some ideas from Kat’s blog on VE Day.

I have added some new events to the Epsom and Ewell Families event calendar, and to this blog – I hope that you find something for you and your family to enjoy.


Walk Like a Superhero on your daily walk, in memory of Ollie; and raise funds for charity. Sadly, the popular local event has had to been cancelled; but lets help Ollie, his family and friends’ fundraising continue. Share your photos on their Facebook page.

Cooking and Baking

Grow Cook Enjoy has new cookery classes for children, those heading off to University and adults this May.

The Epsom Bakehouse is teaching online baking classes on Zoom – including how to make ciabatta, cinnamon buns and crusty sandwich bread.

Pandibakes are back with some online Cake Decorating classes in June.

Food Supplies

Sudesh from Good Evening is providing a batch cooking service and has a new menu. Menus and pricing are available on her website.

Picky Bits are providing isolation celebration boxes – sweet and savoury –  to make your BBQ, birthday, anniversary or special occasion a little more wonderful.

If you are looking for fruit, vegetable and basics delivery boxes, the guys at Yo Sarnie have a great deal.

Getting Active

((Bounce)) Epsom are doing online classes, and children can take part too. A great family workout.

EzeeSport are doing regular EzeeSport at Home classes on their YouTube channel.

If you are looking for some online exercise, F45 in Ashtead are doing virtual training.

You can access free workouts for pre-schoolers with Little Kickers on YouTube.

Fitness Space are also doing online workouts for their members, as well as regular Facebook and Instagram live videos to keep your fitness levels up. They also have a *COMPETITION* at the moment.

You Nutritional Therapy has a range of online classes, including some lockdown offers.

Learning Something New

Brilliant Bilinguals is doing a Summer 2020 Virtual Term for adults and children.

Geeky Kids are now providing virtual coding courses delivered by trusted teachers through cloud video and audio collaborating platforms online.

Surrey Sound of Music are offering online classes via Zoom or Skype – Piano, Singing, Flute, Trumpet, Theory, Guitar, Violin and Drums.

Mental Health

Complementary Therapies with Christine Michele Murray is offering free resources, classes and webinars for dealing with your mental health.

If you have lost someone during the COVID-19 period, and would like to attend an online Bereavement group, please contact the Mind Matters team.

Rebecca Amin has joined forces with a local tutor to offer a FREE 20- 30 minute focus activity for children aged 3 – 7. Giving you some time to focus on what you need to get done.


Join the Ode to Joy Beethoven 789 Fundraising Event on the 7th May at 8.00pm. The event is in aid of NHS Charities Together and Help Musicians UK.

Roz Mcleod, from Ultimate Voice, is running free virtual choir singalongs, as well as online singing classes.

Online Classes

Bambinos and Me are offering free online video classes for babies, massage, children, baby yoga and story-time. They have also teamed up with Blossom and Berry to provide a downloadable love bundle.

Busylizzy has live talks –  Tips for Mastering Naps on the 15th May and Feeding Your Little Person on the 20th May.

Jo Jingles Epsom are doing Facebook live videos for preschool-aged children.

Performing Arts

Ambition Dance have moved their classes online.

Dandelion Theatre Arts have a packed schedule of online performing arts classes, for everyone to try for FREE. Email Jennai to join in.

Join Ewell Dance for their online classes for the Summer term – Ballet, Modern, Tap, Contemporary, Street Dance and Musical Theatre.

Laird Academy are now offering online ballet, contemporary, modern, tap and musical theatre classes.

Katie from Pipsqueaks Performing Arts has various preschool movement sessions online.

Stagecoach Epsom have also moved online, and are offering trials for those who would like to know more about what Stagecoach offers.

Share The Love

Age Concern are appealing to children to write letters or poems to the elderly who are isolating. Email your letters to Charlotte –

If you would like to donate to a cause, the following local businesses are raising funds to support the NHS workers, the vulnerable and the elderly. Picky Bits and local caterers are making meals for Epsom Hospital staff. Tam’s Cakes and Cookies are donating cakes to the NHS staff. Ruxley Delivers is supplying wholesale deliveries of fresh vegetables to the Epsom & Ewell Foodbank.

St Mary’s in Ewell are appealing to the local community to decorate Pebbles of Hope and to leave them at the church for everyone passing to enjoy.

And if you would like to show your appreciation to EVERYONE who is looking after us, helping us and keeping our community alive, make sure that you Clap for our Carers and Keyworkers at 8.00pm every Thursday.

Virtual World

The Big Cat Sanctuary will be live at 11am every Friday. WildEarth does daily safari trips. Chester Zoo is doing virtual tours. You can have a look around the National Aquarium in Baltimore. Chessington World of Adventures are doing live videos, and Hobbledown if offering animal adoptions.

For a cultural tour, you can ‘visit’ The Vatican, The British MuseumThe Smithsonian National Museum of Natural HistoryThe Louvre, The Chateau de Versailles and The Globe Theatre. Southbank Centre has online recitals, blogs and podcasts. The Tate museums also has virtual tours and children’s activities.

For the thrill seekers – Disney World has a virtual channel. You can go on the Harry Potter ride at Orlando. And for the wanderlust – you can do virtual dives with the National Marine Sanctuaries, visit the beaches of Indonesia, see an active volcano or visit the Avatar Mountains in China. Harry Potter fans can do a Google Earth tour of the Harry Potter locations. There is also a Harry Potter digital escape room available.

If you would like to explore Mars, you can visit the Access Mars website. You can also ‘walk around’ Stonehenge, The Roman Baths, The Van Gogh Museum, The Roald Dahl Museum and The State Rooms at Buckingham Palace and Windsor CastleLondon Zoo is also online.

Brooklands Museum also has online activities and an interactive map.
