WHAT’S HAPPENING IN AND AROUND THE AREA – OCTOBER PART 1

Even though I work on the weekends, there is something quite exciting about a Friday. Don’t get me wrong, I love a Monday too, but Fridays are just so special.
This weekend is the week before the Satisfied Eye International Film Festival, one of the highlights of my year. And also one of the busiest weekends of my year. If you like films (any kind), there is something for you. Please come along and support the arts in Epsom.
I’m sure that you will find something to do over the next two weeks, there are suggestions here and I am adding events to the calendar all the time.
The Sunnybank Trust is looking for volunteers for an allotment project. If you can help with planning, preparation of the area, or helping members to plant and learn about the different types of fruit and vegetables, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Epsom Library is hosting a drawing and writing competition, with the theme Autumn, Halloween or Bonfire Night.
Saturday 3rd October
The Leatherhead Theatre is showcasing local talent at our socially-distanced fundraising performances. Featuring a variety of music, dancing and comedy acts.

Monday 5th October
Visit Blenheim for their COVID-secure open mornings and evenings. Including talks and the option to walk around the school. There will also be a virtual tour available.
Tuesday 6th October
Join Jayne in the Grow Cook Enjoy kitchen for her rainbow-themed cooking classes on the 6th and 13th of October.
Friday 9th October
Satisfied Eye International Film Festival is returning to Epsom for its third year. There are films for the whole family – those who love Hollywood or Indie, International or British. Programme and tickets are available here.
Sunday 11th October
Book your visit to Leatherhead Miniature Railway. You will be able to visit them on Sunday 11th October and Sunday 25th October. Pre-booking is essential.
King’s Church in Epsom is offering an Alpha course from the 11th October to the 15th November.
Thursday 15th October
If you are a new or expectant mum who would like to meet other local mums, pop along to Jess and the Beanstalk for a socially-distanced coffee and cake.
Glyn Virtual Open Evening for the 2020-21 Year 12 students will be held online from 4.30 pm.
Sunday 25th October
The popular Surrey Vegan Market is returning to Epsom.
The Surrey Sound of Music welcomes a new teacher to their team. Alice is a piano, clarinet, saxophone, bassoon and flute teacher. You can have a free 30-minute trial class, by quoting E&E Families and get 10% off your first invoice when you sign up before October half term!
The annual Royal Marsden Charity event on Stoneleigh Broadway has taken a different turn this year, but you will still be able to buy raffle tickets to win some incredible prizes donated by local businesses.
