Hello Epsom and Ewell Families,

Now that Halloween is over, it is really beginning to feel a lot like Christmas. Frosty mornings and foggy evenings. The shops are all clad in Christmas decorations and happily playing their merry tunes too.

There is a lot happening in the next two weeks, to get you into the Christmas spirit, before December; especially if you, like me, love everything Christmas. For those who don’t, there is a lot of other events also happening in and around the area – something for everyone. Enjoy!

Friday 15th November

Cobham Curve have a Christmas Pop-Up Market, in aid of Action Against Cancer.

Polesden Lacey are hosting a Christmas Artisan Fair until the 1st December.

St Nicholas Centre, in Sutton, has an Ice Rink from now until the middle of January. They also have a Christmas Market on the 30th November.

Saturday 16th November

Glyn School Christmas Fair is happening from 11.00am – 3.00pm.

There is a Weekly Walk in the Park, taking place from 10.00am in Ashtead Recreation Ground.

A bit further afield, but great if you have some shopping to get done, Woking Shopping is doing a FREE Eco Lantern Workshop.

Sunday 17th November

Find out more about having your baby, your way, at home.  Meet the midwives, and learn about the practicalities of having a home birth. All  are welcome to attend this FREE family-friendly event and no booking is required. The event is from 2.00pm – 5.00pm.

The Cat’s Grin Theatre are telling Children’s Stories at the Bell, in Fetcham.

Leatherhead Theatre

Leatherhead Theatre has two performances of Once Upon a Princess on the 17th November, you can see The Close-Up Show on the 22nd November at 7.30pm, there is the Les Mis Live Concert on the 2nd December, Jazz on the Mezz on the 3rd December, and the live screening of Coppélia on the 10th December. You can also book your tickets for Leatherhead’s 2019 panto Sleeping Beauty.

If you are interested in local history, there is a Horton Country Park Walk about the Days of Steam on the 17th November. I was fascinated about this local history – very interesting.

Monday 18th November

The Epsom and Ewell New Parent Hub is a friendly and welcoming space for parents-to-be and new parents. 10.00am – 11.30am at Epsom Downs Family Centre.

Tuesday 19th November

From the 19th to 30th November, the Nonsuch Craft Group are returning to Bourne Hall for their annual Christmas Fair, to celebrate their 50th anniversary.

Wednesday 20th November

Epsom Playhouse also have some fantastic shows on offer. You can see Illegal Eagles at 7.30pm.

Thursday 21st November

Sinatra, Sequins and Swing on the 21st at 7.30pm at Epsom Playhouse.

Friday 22nd November

Hampton Court‘s Ice Rink is returning on the 22nd. You can skate at the historic palace until the 5th January 2020.

Hobbledown are doing their annual Winter Light Switch On, from 4.00pm.

Saturday 23rd November

Chessington Garden Centre has Santa’s Christmas Wonderland taking place from the 23rd November until the 24th December. One of the most popular places to visit Santa, locally.

You can meet Father Christmas at Morden Hall Park, from 10.00am on the 23rd. Booking is essential.

Sutton High Street will have activities from 11.00am, for their Christmas Lights Switch On event.

Also in Sutton, the Sutton Library has a Magical Library from 11.00am.

The popular Ashley Centre’s Christmas Lights Switch On is happening on the 23rd. Family activities will be taking place from 12.00pm.

Epsom Playhouse

Close Up Magic is returning to Epsom Playhouse on the 23rd November from 7.30pm and the Leatherhead Operatic Society’s Oklahoma from the 27th November. You can also book Santa’s Christmas Countdown and the Epsom 2019 panto Peter Pan.

Sunday 24th November

Book now for Priory Farm‘s Santa’s Grotto. You can see Santa from the 24th November to the 24th December.

Monday 25th November

Girlguiding Surrey East are inviting those interested in volunteering to attend an information evening, with tea and cake.

Tuesday 26th November

Age Concern has a Charity Curry Night at Tamarind Spice. Booking is essential.

Wednesday 27th November

The Christmas Lights are being switched on at Epsom Square from 5.00pm. There is also a children’s competition – to be involved in the evening’s events.

Thursday 28th November

Epsom’s Go Christmas is happening on the 28th, from 4.00pm. Free festive fun, the Take That experience, meet and greet Santa, and the highlight… the Christmas lights being turned on.

The Banstead Christmas Community Event is taking place from 5.00pm.

Painshill’s Christmas Lates are back on the 28th and 29th. An opportunity to see the beautifully illuminated park at night.

Friday 29th November

The Friends of Ewell Grove are holding their Christmas Fair.

Stoneleigh Broadway’s Lights on Broadway 2019 event is also happening on the 29th – a great evening of festive cheer.

The Wheatsheaf, in Ewell, is holding a Christmas Market from 6.00pm.

Watch A Nativity Story at Epsom Methodist Church at 6.00pm. Tickets are £6 each, or £20 for a family ticket.

Saturday 30th November

There is the opportunity to create Christmas Crafts at the Honeywood Museum, from 10.00am.

The Derby Equestrian Country Store are having a Christmas Open Day on the 30th.

The Shooting Star Chase Christmas & Craft Market is happening at Bourne Hall, from 10.30am.

See Santa, in his Grotto at Hobbledown, from the 30th November until the 24th December.

St John’s School‘s Christmas Market is taking place from 11.00am.

Also in Leatherhead, there is the Light Up Leatherhead event from 3.00pm.

Meadow Primary’s Christmas Fair will be held from 12.00-3.00pm. Festive fun will include a toy and bottle tombola, raffle, performances by the children, a secret present room, food and drink, stalls and games. £1 entry – under 12s go free.

The Ashtead Squash Club’s Christmas Extravaganza is happening on the 30th, from 4.00pm.

Sunday 1st December

The Kingston Ancient Market is turning on the festive cheer from the 1st December, when it becomes Kingston’s Christmas Market.

Catch a snow train to Meet Santa at the Crystal Grotto at Painshill.

The popular local charity event – Chessington Road Lights – will be turned on at 6.00pm.

The popular Santa Fun Run is happening again at Painshill Park on Saturday 7th December.

Penny Black in Leatherhead has a Children’s Outdoor Cinema on 7th December. There are screenings of Polar Express, The Grinch and Home Alone.

* Book Now * The Ewell Grove Players are getting ready for another pantomime performance. Book tickets for Robin Hood Prince of Cheese at Bourne Hall on Saturday 7th December.

On Saturday 21st December the Epsom Choral Society will be giving its annual Christmas Concert at St Martin’s Church in Epsom. A mix of traditional carols with new pieces, and accompanied by a quintet from London Metropolitan Brass.
