WHAT’S HAPPENING IN AND AROUND THE AREA – MARCH PART 2

Hi Epsom and Ewell Families,

I hope that you have had a good two weeks, and that you are all well. The last fortnight has been a bit of a whirlwind, and I cannot believe that we are swiftly approaching more school holidays! I am so excited for Easter – there is a lot happening, which I will mention in the next blog. If you’d like to book activities now, you can find some of the events on our *Events Calendar*.

*Donation Requests*

If you are a business owner, able to donate a prize, or donate some sponsorship money to the Epsom and Ewell Mayor’s Charities ball, they are looking for donations and sponsorship.

Epsom’s Casey Ward is looking for donations of popular DVD’s and action figures. Have a look here for a list of the requested items.

Friday 13th March

Surrey Clubs for Young People‘s The Edge Youth Club is now open. The club is for 11-17 year olds, and takes place on Fridays from 7.30-9.30pm. The club fee is £1 and there is a tuck shop available.

Good Evening has a Friday Night Takeaway chicken curry class. Take away your meal, and a goody bag. There are also fish and lentil curry classes.

Saturday 14th March

Epsom’s Rotary Club are hosting a Quiz Night, with a Fish and Chip Supper, from 7.00pm.

Celebrate the legend, Bob Marley, in a one-night extravaganza at Epsom Playhouse from 7.30pm. If you would like to see what else is available at Epsom Playhouse in March, have a look at Dee’s blog.

Sunday 15th March

Walk 5kms around Painshill Park. Free entry to the park for all ticket holders. Tickets are £15 for adults and £8 for children. The walk is in aid of Shooting Star Children’s Hospices.

Tuesday 17th March

Epsom Players will be back at Epsom Playhouse for the production of Shrek, from the 17th to 21st March.

Wednesday 18th March

NCT Epsom & Sutton branch volunteers are hosting a Sustainable Parenting Evening with Bethan Mark, local mum and creator of Go Eco Baby at the lovely Jess and the Beanstalk café in Epsom.

Thursday 19th March

Learn to cook exciting new recipes with your child at Grow Cook Enjoy! Learn about cooking techniques, while learning some great life skills.

 

The Mary Francis Trust will be holding a series of classes to improve the mental and emotional wellbeing of 17 to 25 year olds.

Soup Kitchen evening raising money for the Epsom & Ewell Foodbank this evening will be relaxed and informal, it’s a chance to spend time with friends, and to make some new ones too, whilst raising money for a great cause. Included in your ticket price is a delicious bowl of soup, a dessert and a glass of fizz (soft drinks, teas and coffees can also be purchased). Ticket is £10 per person more details can be found here.

Saturday 21st March

Leatherhead’s Swan Centre gives you the opportunity to buy something special for mum at their Mother’s Day Gift Market.

Daisy First Aid are doing a first aid class for those who have, or work with, babies and children.

Sunday 22nd March

The popular Surrey Vegan Market is returning to Epsom.

Old Moat Garden Centre invites you and mum to an Afternoon Tea on Mother’s Day. Booking is essential.

Learn how to cook a traditional chicken curry, followed by a pilau rice demo. Every mum will receive a beautiful gift bag, containing homemade garam masala and individual recipe cards.

Tuesday 24th March

Momentum Children’s Charity are hosting their first ‘Re-fashion Fashion’ event. There are stalls selling preloved items and accessories at bargain prices. Tickets are £5.

Mulberry & Thyme Luxury Hair have a “Hair” gets social evening on the last Tuesday of every month. The event starts at 5.30pm and finishes at 7.30pm.

Wednesday 25th March

Epsom Methodist Church has a Messy Church on the last Wednesday of every month, from 4.00pm.

Thursday 26th March

There is a Fashion Closet Sale at All Things Nice. A great opportunity for a clear out before Spring. DONATION ON ENTRY – with proceeds being donated to Momentum Children’s Charity.

FREE Family Flix. Doors open at 3:45pm, with the film commencing shortly afterwards. All welcome – ask for details about the film that is showing each month.

Michelle Samman and friends will be raising money again for Royal Marsden.

DANCE FITNESS: with me and some other fabulous instructors – the cost is £15 (2.00pm-4.00pm)
BOOTCAMP: with Sam and his team – the cost is £10 (2.30pm-3.30pm)

Sunday 29th March

Sign up for the Walk4Wards walk, in aid of Epsom and St Heliers hospitals.

Concerts at the Sanctuary brings top London professional musicians and ensembles to Ewell Village. Teas and freshly-baked cakes will be served.

For Your Diary

On the 5th April, there is Epsom & Ewell Mayor’s Charities‘ Easter Trail at Bourne Hall from 1.00pm. Money raised goes to charities: Epsom & Ewell Phab, MND Association, East Surrey Branch and Alzheimer’s Society. Please email phab@phab.org to sign up – places are limited.

A night at the races on the 10th April, from 6.00pm to 11.30pm. Horse racing, photobooth, raffles, food and drink, and music. £10 per entry ticket – bring cash for racing, etc. If you are able to donate a prize, please contact the organisers.
