What’s Happening in and Around the Area – June Part 3

June seems to be flying by and in just over a month it’ll be the school summer holidays 😲 Here’s a round up of things happening in and around the area in the coming weeks.

Epsom Antique & Brocante Street Market

Sunday 20th June 10am – 4pm the Antique & Brocante Street Market will be at the Epsom Marketplace.

The Well Inn House

There will be Live Music in The Garden at The Wells Inn House Saturday 19th & 26th June and they are doing a Fathers Day Special on Sunday 20th June.   Get in touch to make a booking here.

St Martin’s Church

St Martin’s Church in Epsom is holding a Covid recovery event on Sunday 27th June the event is for people to reflect on the past year and to take some time out to think and restore their feelings and emotions in the  peaceful surroundings of the church (which will be open from 9am-5pm). Additionally, there will be a piano recital on Friday 25th June at 12.30pm. www.stmartinsepsom.org 

Little Seeds Forest School – Gatton Park 

Recommended for children aged 2-5 years, the forest school on Monday, 21st June (10am–11.45am) gives little ones the opportunity to explore the woodlands through organised play including mud, fire, dens and woodland crafts. More details and booking here.

Grow Cook Enjoy

Grow Cook Enjoy is running a Summer Cooking Club (online) for children aged 5-11 years until 6th July. The theme is alfresco dining with Cornish pasties, burgers, kebabs, scones, strawberry tarts and some super salads on the menu. Find out more here.

Free French in the Park for Parents & Toddlers

ALTétude French Tutoring is running a series of free half hour French lessons for parents and toddlers in Manor Park in Sutton. The 30 minute sessions are taking place on June 24th, July 1st, July 8th and July 15th (10am-10.30am). Book here.

Epsom & St Helier Hospitals Charity

The NHS Big Tea is the nation’s biggest tea break. It’s a chance to join together, have a cuppa, say thank you and raise some money for your local NHS heroes at Epsom and St Helier hospitals and community services. It takes place at 3pm on Monday 5 July. 

The Epsom & St Helier Hospitals Charity is also running a Summer raffle with some amazing prizes up for grabs. You can find out more and enter the draw (which takes place on Thursday, 29 July) here.

Epsom Racecourse Antiques And Collectables Fair

The next monthly Antiques Fair at Epsom Racecourse will take place on Tuesday, July 6th. The fair has up to 200 indoor and outdoor stands and has been running for 29 years. More details here.

Introduction to sourdough bread baking

The Epsom Bakehouse is running its popular sour dough class on Saturday, 3 July from 11:00am-12:30pm.

You’ll learn step-by-step the process to mix, knead, prove and shape a crusty white sourdough loaf, using a traditional starter to raise your loaf (you’ll be guided step-by-step how to make your own rye flour sourdough starter before the class). Good Evening Food is one of Epsom’s culinary delights and now lockdown restrictions have eased it is now back with a fresh new venue to host their renowned and popular supper clubs.  They will be running supper clubs throughout the summer, find out how you can book in Kat’s blog here.

Love Theatre Arts – Musical Theatre Summer School

Love Theatre ArtsMusical Theatre Summer School is a fun fuelled week (Monday 26th July- Friday 30th July, 9am-3.45pm) of singing, dancing, acting and arts and crafts at Barrow Hedges School. The week will help individual confidence, fitness, rhythm and technique. The students will showcase their achievements in an end of week adaptation of Charlie & The Chocolate Factory.

So grab your child their Golden Ticket! Price is £170 (10% sibling discount), which includes exclusive Love Theatre Arts Summer School T- Shirt. A £30 deposit is required to reserve a place.

Pardon Your French – Summer courses and activities

 

Pardon Your French is offering two courses over the summer holidays. ‘Atelier de vacances‘, which is aimed at 5-8 year olds, runs on the 22nd and 23rd of July. It features a programme of activities such as crafts, sport and gardening within a framework of fun French learning. More details here.

There is also a GCSE intensive course that will help students practise their French, gain confidence and revise before the start of the new academic year. This will be for an hour each day over the course of a week (Mon-Fri) 26th–30th, July and 2nd– 6th, August. More details here and here.

Age Concern Epsom & Ewell – Charity Golf Day 

Age Concern Epsom & Ewell is holding its first Charity Golf Day at the prestigious Royal Automobile Club, Woodcote Park, Epsom on Tuesday 26th October. The charity golf day will start with bacon rolls and coffee, followed by a prompt shotgun start on the Old Course, one of the 18-hole downland golf courses, set within Woodcote Park. To conclude the day, there will be a three-course Silver Service evening meal and a fundraising raffle. Full details on Facebook.
