WHAT’S HAPPENING IN AND AROUND THE AREA – JANUARY PART 2

Happy mid-January,

We are almost through what feels like the longest month of the year. I hope that you have settled into the New Year and that you are keeping to you resolutions (if you’ve done them). I am so proud that I have been sticking to mine. If you need some tips on how to stick to yours, have a read of Stella’s blog.

We have had a fun start to the month: I won tickets to see the Peter Pan panto at Epsom Playhouse, went on a VERY long but very lovely walk at Boxhill, have been loving my training at FS Epsom, had two little trips into London town and had the most delicious food at a Good Evening Supper Club (Sudesh has some events coming up – have a look below).

There is a LOT happening in Epsom, Ewell and surrounding areas over the next fortnight. I hope that you find something for you and your family.

Wednesday 15th January

* NEW * There is a new coding class at Glyn School on Wednesdays. Geeky Kids focusses on computer science, coding and problem solving.

NESCOT have an Open Evening, for anyone interested in attending the college.

Old Moat Garden Centre are hosting a Comedy Cafe, with Kate Lucas.

YOUTheatre’s pantomime Sleeping Beauty is being performed at Epsom Playhouse from 7.30pm.

Thursday 16th January

The Mary Frances Trust has a 4-week Emotional Resilience course.

Join Good Evening for a delicious Supper Club. Sudesh’s food is gorgeous. I am really looking forward to attending another Good Evening Supper Club at the end of January.

Ewell Dance is offering free trial lessons for children interested in trying Ballet, Tap, Modern, Contemporary Dance, Street Dance and Musical Theatre. Adult Ballet classes are also available.

Friday 17th January

Epsom NCT has play groups on Friday mornings at St Barnabas Church.

Pandibakes has various PandiPlay sessions over the month. A nursery-rhyme themed play session.

You have another chance to see The Close-Up Show at The Leatherhead Theatre.

Stacy Oakley Calligraphy has a Beginner’s Course. I absolutely loved attending a course last year, you can read my blog about it here.

Saturday 18th January

Rhiannon, of The Epsom Bakehouse, is hosting an Introduction to Bread Making course.

You can see Tutankhamun’s Sarcophagus at The Observatory, in London.

Hobbledown is celebrating Appreciate a Dragon Day, from 11.00am on the 18th and 19th.

Sunday 19th January

There is a Home Birth Workshop at the Malvern Centre at Sutton Hospital. An opportunity to ask questions and learn more about home birth.

Monday 20th January

Susie Dent’s The Secrets Life of Words will be staged at Epsom Playhouse at 7.30pm.

Tuesday 21st January

Bach Lunchtime Organ Recitals start on the 21st from 1.05pm to 1.35pm.

There is a Youth Cafe for Year 7s and above. Every Tuesday from 3.15pm to 5.15pm.

Friday 24th January

* NEW * A monthly Family Flix event on a Friday afternoon.

Join PT Depot for the second instalment of Games Night. Booking is essential.

Head over to Caffe Italia for Back2House‘s house music anthems, from 8.00pm.

Saturday 25th January

A new Toddler Group for dads and toddlers is starting from 9.30am to 11.00am. The group is £1.50, and includes refreshments.

Fennies Nursery has an Open Day on the 25th, from 10.00am to 12.00pm.

Good Evening and The Epsom Bakehouse have a Bread and Spice Cooking Class at PT Depot.

Busylizzy Epsom and Leatherhead have a First Aid Workshop on the 25th and another one on Tuesday 28th January.

A family-friendly afternoon of Board Games, free tea and cake.

Watch Rolling and ‘a’ Rocking show by The Counterfeit Stones at Epsom Playhouse at 7.00pm.

Sunday 26th January

The Carshalton Wedding Fair is a great opportunity for those who are planning a wedding in 2020; or for those who have recently got engaged.

Wednesday 29th January

Epsom Methodist Church has a Messy Church on the last Wednesday of every month. 4.00pm – 6.00pm.

Friday 31st January

Join Family Network for a FREE networking session at Mandalina.

Saturday 1st February

If you are interesting in learning Music Theory, The Heart and Soul Choir are doing a course.

Epsom Riding for the Disabled will be hosting a Mental Health First Aid Awareness Afternoon from 1.30pm to 4.30pm.

Stitches Haberdashery, in Cheam, is holding an Eco Community Event. An opportunity to buy or swap patterns, buy left over fabric and book onto their Eco Sewing Course.

You can join All Saints Church for Sweaty Church on Monday 3rd February.

* Book Now * Epsom’s Rotary Club are holding a Fundraising Ball at Epsom Downs on Saturday 15th February. The ball is in aid of RDA and MYTime Young Carers.

* Book Now * Bambinos and Me have a Half Term Holiday Workshop on Tuesday 18th February.

Jazz on the Mezz is returning to The Leatherhead Theatre on Wednesday 19th February.
