The school holidays are in full swing; I can’t believe we’re heading into August already. I hope it’s all going well, you still have food left in the house and everyone’s sanity still remains ūüôā

Banstead Village Day Celebrations

Organised by Banstead Rotary, Banstead Business Guild and Banstead Village in Bloom, the Banstead Village Day Celebrations is a chance to celebrate community and local businesses. There’ll be high street entertainment, shop competitions and plenty to entertain the kids. Opening by the Mayor at 10.30am.

RoboFun, which teaches children (4-18 years) robotics and programming skills, is running a Summer Camp of face-to-face classes at Epsom Methodist Church. You can try a free session before you book your course. More details here:

BBL Flower School

The hugely experienced florists of BBL Design are running Hand Tied Classes at their shop in Ewell Village on Saturday, 7th and 14th August at 10am and 2pm (on both days).

They provide all the lovely blooms and teach the methods you’ll need to create your own hand tied bouquet, which you can take home to enjoy. More information and booking:

Momentum Children’s Charity – Childhood Cancer Awareness Month

Join the Thames Path Challenge team this September for Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. It’s a great way to show support, help spread awareness of the work the charity does in supporting children with cancer, and of course raise funds for their vital work.

Farmers Market 

The Farmers Market is back on Sunday, 1st August  (9:30am to 1:30pm).

You will find a huge array of diverse, artisan and locally produced foods and products including: fresh meats, sausages, poultry, game, eggs, fish, fruit & veg, herbs, freshly baked breads, cheeses, pies, cakes and seasonal plants.

Library Events 

The annual Summer Reading Challenge is in full swing but it’s definitely not too late to join, we did the other day. The Reading Agency in partnership with libraries is¬†teaming up with WWF for a very special nature-themed challenge called Wild World Heroes. Find out more here:

Surrey County Council has launched a new summer activity aimed at children aged 4 to 12. ¬†The Surrey Nature Explorer Passport is a free and fun way to explore nature and libraries. A bit like a real passport, children use it to collect stickers for completing fun nature challenges. The passport runs from mid-July to October. There’s also a chance to win exciting prizes worth up to ¬£150. Find out more here:¬†
