WHAT’S HAPPENING IN AND AROUND THE AREA – DECEMBER PART 2

This is the last What’s Happening Blog for the year! I can’t believe it. The last two weeks have been crazy busy – with school nativity performances, work, Ewell Yule, Afternoon Tea, Christmas meals, a school fair, preparing for a trip and a 5th birthday party. Phew! Looking forward to a chilled out Christmas with family.
Over the next two weeks, there are various events happening in Epsom and Ewell (and surrounding areas).
Saturday, 15th December
The Santa Show is on at the Playhouse at various times and runs until the 24th December.
There is also still a chance to meet the Big Man in Red at the Crockford Bridge Farm, from 10.30am – 5.30pm.
As mentioned in my last blog – there is a Christmas at Worcester Park event from 12.00pm – 6.00pm.
From 2.00pm – 4.00pm there is a Kids Christmas Party at Ye Olde Red Lion in Cheam
There is a Christmas event at Nonsuch from 2.30pm. There will be music, readings and a festive fayre.
Sunday 16th December
11-11.30am at St Mary’s Church, Ewell is Nursery Rhyme Nativity. There are also many other church services over the festive season – more details below.
Tuesday, 19th December
A short drive away, Santa and his reindeer will be at The Bell in Fetcham between 4.00pm and 8.00pm.
Thursday, 20th December
Aladdin is returning to the Leatherhead Theatre from 1.30pm on the 20th December, and will be performed various times and will be running until the 30th December.
From 6.00pm to 8.00pm, Whitehall in Cheam is being dressed for Christmas. Enjoy the decorations, pomander making workshop, Christmas crackers, bad jokes, Christmas cake or mince pie and tea or coffee.
Friday, 21st December
The first showing of Mary Poppins Returns at the Epsom Odeon and will be on at various times, you can register your interest for tickets here.
You can see the Christmas classic The Snowman at G Live in Guildford from 2.30pm – 3.30pm.
Saturday, 22nd December
Ye Olde Red Lion, Cheam has a Santa’s grotto from 11.00am – 1.00pm.
Epsom Choral Society’s annual Christmas concert at 7.30pm, with Carols old and new. Sing along with traditional favourites. Tickets: £15 (£7.50 students or under 18).
Sunday, 23rd December
Meet Father Christmas at The Ashley Centre (outside New Look) from 10.30am – 4.30pm.
Entertainment, shopping and festive treats at Merton Abbey Mills from 11.00am – 5.00pm.
Fancy a trip to London? the Christmas festivities start in Leicester Square from 3.00pm – 8.00pm.
Monday, 24th and Tuesday, 25th December
There are a variety of services taking place in the Epsom and Ewell churches on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

Wednesday, 26th December
Dogs and their owners are invited to Nonsuch, for a hot drink and mince pie from 8.00am – 11.00am.
The St Mary’s Ewell Morris Men will be dancing in Ewell Village for their annual boxing day celebrations. Festivities begin at 12.00pm outside the Green Man.
Sunday, 30th December
For those that want to Party hard in the lead up to the New Year Godstone Farm are having a New Year Kids Party from 10am – 4.30pm. There will be face glitter, party dances and games throughout the day, with hot & cold food and drink available all day to keep you refuelled! Also running on the 30th and 31st.
Another London trip, the English National Ballet performance of The Nutcracker from 7.30pm – 9.30pm at the London Coliseum.
“Christmas House” on Chessington Road are still collecting for the Epsom Riding School for Disabled so do go down and give them a visit lights go on every evening at 4.30pm.
Another place to visit that raises money for charity and is full of “Christmas Houses” is Lower Morden Road.
Lastly on fundraising the Epsom & Ewell Foodbank currently have an appeal for support to help give their clients a fresh meal for Christmas you can read more about it here.
