WHAT’S HAPPENING IN AND AROUND THE AREA – DECEMBER PART 2

Hello Epsom and Ewell families,
This week has been quite hectic – with work, school and a 6th birthday party. So our visit to PT Depot last week was just what I needed to get me through the week. You can read all about the rejuvenation afternoon that Dee, Kat and I were treated to on this blog.
If you’re looking for some fantastic activities and events over the next two weeks, then look no further.
Meet Santa, in his Grotto, at Hobbledown until the 24th December.
You can skate at Hampton Court Palace until the 5th January 2020. Dee’s kids had great fun here.
St Nicholas Centre has an Ice Rink until the middle of January.
Visit Kingston’s Christmas Market for a traditional ‘local’ Christmas market.
Meet Father Christmas at Godstone Farm they also have late slots from 5 – 7pm on the following dates:

At the Epsom Playhouse until the 24th December is Santa’s Christmas Countdown. This is a 45 minute, interactive family show, particularly suitable for 2-7 year olds.
Sunday 15th December
Watch Peter Pan on Ice at Guildford Spectrum.
There is still time to see the Glow 2019 lights at Wisley. Open daily from 4.00pm to 8.00pm.
Book to see Epsom Playhouse’s 2019 pantomime Peter Pan until the 5th January.
Churches in Epsom and Ewell over Christmas
If you would like to visit a church over the festive period, there are various Christmas events and services.
- 15th December: Epsom Baptist Church has a Christingle Service at 4.30pm. St Mary’s, Ewell has a Nine Lessons and Carols Service at 5.30pm.
- 17th December: Under 5’s Nativity Service at Epsom Methodist Church.
- 19th December: Epsom Vineyard Church has a Carols by Candlelight Service at Senzo in Epsom.
- 21st December: Epsom Methodist Church are hosting a Christingle Service.
- 22nd December: Christ Church Ewell has a Carol Service by Candlelight. King’s Church has a Christmas Family Service and a Carols by Candlelight Service. There is a Christmas Carol Service at All Saints Church.
- 24th December: St Mary’s Ewell has a Nativity Service performed by local children at 2pm, there is a Crib Service at 4pm and Midnight Mass. All Saints Church have a Nativity Service and they have a Late Night Communion Service too.
- 25th December: All churches have Christmas Day services, check their websites for more information.

Tuesday 17th December
Santa and his Reindeer are returning to The Bell in Fetcham.
There is a Christmas Carols around the Campfire event taking place in Redhill.
Thursday 19th December
The Christ Church Christmas Choir will be performing at The Cricketers.
Friday 20th December
Giggles Soft Play has a Christmas Party from 10.00am – 12.00pm. £12.50 per child.
There is a Christmas Memorial Service for those who like to remember lost loved ones as Christmas approaches. 11.00am at Epsom Cemetery Chapel. The service is not a traditional religious service, though there will be some familiar Christmas music.
Leatherhead Theatre’s 2019 pantomime Sleeping Beauty is being performed from the 20th December.
PT Depot are hosting a Games Night from 7.00pm. Spaces are limited, so booking is essential. If you haven’t heard of PT Depot before you can find more details here.
Saturday 21st December
You can have Breakfast with Santa at The Cricketers.
You can Meet Santa’s Reindeer at Chequers in Tadworth.
Grow Cook Enjoy have a Christmas gingerbread houses workshop on the 21st December.
There is a family-friendly concert in Ewell Village at St. Michael’s The Sanctuary.
Claremont Landscape Gardens host Christmas Carols with singers from Earthly Voice Choir.
The Epsom Choral Society will be giving its annual Christmas Concert at St Martin’s Church in Epsom. A mix of traditional carols with new pieces, and accompanied by a quintet from London Metropolitan Brass.
Sunday 22nd December
Watch the pantomime Jack and The Beanstalk at West Ewell Social Club.
Visit Merton Abbey Mills for Christmas Thrills at the Mills from 11.00am.
You can also meet Santa’s reindeer at The Bear in Oxshott.
If you are looking for a gift idea for a loved one who enjoys Indian food or cooking – Breech Lane Curry House has gift vouchers. Classes are small, cozy and hands-on. Participants learn to prepare healthy Indian family recipes from scratch, using local produce and home roasted spices. A gift that keeps on giving!
For anyone who may need the services of North Surrey Domestic Abuse Service, they will be running a Freedom Programme in Epsom in January 2020.
