WHAT’S HAPPENING IN AND AROUND THE AREA – DECEMBER PART 1

Hope you’ve all been well over the last month. With us being in lockdown again, there was sadly not much happening. However, Epsom and Ewell is slowly starting to (safely) come back to life with some local events and activities, which you can read about below.
It’s the most wonderful time of the year – and yes I did sing that as I typed it. In case you’ve missed it, I LOVE Christmas. Everything about it makes me happy. I especially love when the nights are crisp and all of the Christmas lights are twinkling. Yay! Is your tree up yet?
I hope that you have a lovely fortnight and that you find some fun and festive things to do in the area. The first thing I’ll mention is Hobbledown still have spaces (not many!) to visit Santa’s grotto, ticket info here.
We put up rainbows in our windows for the NHS and now St Mary’s are encouraging people to make Epsom and Ewell Shine, by putting up a star, over the festive season.
Bocketts Farm is feeling very festive, and while tickets to meet Father Christmas have now sold out, you can still take part in the Elf Passport Trail, make reindeer food and Christmas badges, enjoy the farm and the animals. Bookings are limited though, so book now.
From the 15th November to the 15th December, you can buy gifts on the Cheam Christmas virtual market.
Join the Virtual Santa Dash by running, jogging or walking. Take on this 5K challenge before the 25th of December and earn yourself an official Santa Dash Medal and goodie bag!
Friday, 4th December
Honeywood Museum will be re-opening and are excited to welcome visitors back again.
Interactive Pirate Booty Cove panto adventure delivered right to your screen—you don’t even have to leave the sofa! Various dates from the 4th to the 13th December.
The French Market stalls are back in Epsom, with delicious traditional French goodies.
Saturday, 5th December
Meet Father Christmas, visit the Toy Shop, do Christmas crafts and make cookies at Godstone Farm this weekend.
Make your own Christmas wreath with Grow Cook Enjoy!
Sunday, 6th December
The Epsom Farmers’ Market, on the first Sunday of every month, offers locally sourced fruit and vegetables, handcrafted gifts and tasty goodies.
Monday, 7th December
Book a personalised visit with Santa, and receive a small gift and letter.
West Ewell Primary have created a fun-filled festive event for all families to enjoy. For £5 per family, you will get a map which will lead you on a Christmassy journey within our community. Tuesday, 8th December
St Mary’s will be doing free lunchtime Organ Recitals on Tuesdays in December.
Wednesday, 9th December
Messy Play sessions for toddlers from walking ages through to 5 years, in Leatherhead every Wednesday.
BBL Design will be holding a Christmas Wreath Workshop for £50.00. The workshop includes all materials and refreshments.
Swimtime presents a visit from their new friend Jingle The Elf, all the way from the North Pole. There will be two shows on the 9th and 22nd December, and both shows include live interaction and family fun.
Thursday, 10th December
BabyTalk is a 6-week course for babies from 4 months to around 12 months. BabyTalk classes introduce you to the importance of early communication skills and how to develop them.
Friday, 11th December
The Leatherhead Theatre is excited to be re-opening with West End Comes to Leatherhead. A singing and dancing spectacular. Socially distanced seating, in a COVID secure environment.
Saturday, 12th December
The Ewell Grove Players are dusting down their favourite characters from past years to help Mummy find Santa and SAVE CHRISTMAS! This year’s panto is a fundraiser for computer equipment for Ewell Grove.
Sunday, 13th December
Folly Fairs returns to the market place.
The Derby Arms are hosting Brunch with Santa. The man in red will also be back on the 19th of December.
Saturday, 19th December
The Epsom Choral Society will be bringing you festive cheer with their annual Christmas concert. This will be performed in St Martin’s Church and streamed live so that you can watch it at home with your family and enjoy a joyful event to get you in the mood for Christmas. Donations welcomed.
Sunday, 20th December
Join your neighbours for The Big Carol Sing at 6.00 pm.

Mega Camps will be running Christmas Camp at Blenheim School on the following dates: (21st, 22nd, 23rd, 29th, 30th December).
Stagecoach Epsom will be hosting a Christmas Holiday Workshop from the 21st to the 23rd December at Rosebery Girls School.
