WHAT’S HAPPENING IN AND AROUND THE AREA – AUGUST PART 2

Hello from a very ‘London-like’ Canada. We are roadtripping (and camping) in Canada this week and I have just realised that I suddenly have a rather large fear of encountering a bear. My children think it would be marvellous, but I think that they except a cute and cuddly.

Hope that you’re having a wonderful holiday, and that the first part of the Summer holidays is going well.

There are some fun activities happening in and around Epsom and Ewell over the next fortnight. Enjoy!

Still taking place, throughout August

Rainbow Leisure Centre’s Summer Inflatable Sessions are still running every Monday, Wednesday and Friday during the holidays, from 14:00 – 15:30. For more information call 01372 727277.

Godstone Farm is celebrating 40 years. There is messy play, a music zone, crafts and building; as well as daily family shows, amongst other things. Have a look at more farms to visit in our farm blog.

Polesden Lacey have holiday activities. Their Summer Holiday Craft Activities start from 10.00am and there are also Bat Walks taking place from the 7th.

There are The Very Hungry Caterpillar activities at Wisley. Activities include trails, arts and crafts, puppet shows, music and an Eric Carle art display.  You will find more details on other National Trust sites to visit on our blog post.

Birdworld has Summer of Fun activities, and a Big Bug Bonanza Week taking place during the holidays.

 

Crafternoons, Bat Walks, Teddy Bear’s Picnics, Walks and a Camp are happening at Winkworth Arboretum.

You can visit Whitehall in Cheam for Fun on the Farm activities, until the 29th August. Events run every Thursday from 2.00pm to 4.00pm. There are also a variety of Tudor activities taking place in August.

Claremont Landscape Gardens have events and activities over the next few weeks. Activities include Boating, Trails and Walks, Teddy Bear’s Picnic, Storytelling, Crazy Golf, Arts and Crafts, and a Camp Out.

There are Teddy Bear’s Train Rides, Birds of Prey demonstrations, the opportunity to be an archaeologist, and theatre performances happening at Denbies, over August.

Thursday 15th August

Sutton Life Centre is hosting a Summer Fun Day Space Adventure from 10.00am to 4.00pm.

Epsom and Ewell Families, All Things Nice and Tam’s Cakes and Cookies are hosting a Prosecco and Canapes Fundraiser for the Epsom and Ewell Foodbank. Tickets cost £15 per person, and can be purchased from All Things Nice – pop in for more info.

Friday 16th August

Pistachios in the Park are being visited by Pete, the baby T-Rex Dinosaur at 1.00pm.

Wildflowers Family Festival is happening again at Hobbledown on the 16th, 17th and 18th August.

Near Farnham, there is also the Weyfest Music festival happening from the 16th to the 18th August.

Sunday 18th August

There is a Ginsecco Festival at Morden Park Housefrom 12.00pm to 9.00pm.

Wednesday 21st August

For those looking for a bit of adventure this holiday, Morden Hall Park has a Tree Climbing Adventure. For anyone aged 6 to 100.

Sing and dance to The Greatest Showman. Suitable for 5 – 11 year olds.

Thursday 22nd August

Bookham Baptist Children’s Centre has a Teddy Bear’s Picnic in the Park from 12.00pm to 2.30pm.

Pandibakes has cupcake courses on the 22nd of August – Summer Holiday Cake and Craft, and on the 24th August – Enchanted Fairy Edible Cake Modelling.

Saturday 24th August

The Wimbledon Food and Drink Festival is taking place over the Bank Holiday weekend at Wimbledon Park. The festival opens daily at 10.00am.

There is also a Food Festival at Hampton Court Palace from the 24th to the 26th. There is eating, drinking, shopping, children’s activities and a bandstand.

New Malden Fire Station has an Open Day from 11.00am.

Mamma Mia 2 is being screened at Cheam Park Open Air Cinema from 7.00pm.

Monday 26th August

There is a Picnic on the Plaza, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of The Leatherhead Theatre.

The Carshalton Environmental Fair is returning to Carshalton Park, from 10.30am.

The Merton Abbey Mills’ Kids Fest is happening from 11.00am to 5.00pm.

Epsom Down is hosting a Family Fun Day on Bank Holiday Monday, with activities from 11.30am.

Immersion Theatre Company has two Alice in Wonderland performances at Hatchlands NT. One on the 26th and one on the 27th – both performances are at 6.00pm.

Thursday 29th August

Epsom Bakehouse has an Introduction to Bread Making at All Things Nice from 1.00pm to 4.30pm.

Friday 30th August

Woking Food & Drink Festival 2019 is taking place from the 30th August to 1st September.

Saturday 31st August

There is a Brooklands Fun Day taking place at Brooklands Community Park, from 11.00am.

The community event, Trifest, is back from 12.00pm to 4.00pm, in Auriol Park.

Summer Holiday Clubs

If you’re looking for any last minute Summer Clubs, here are some of the local ones that are happening (we cannot guarantee availability):

Mega Camps are running sessions through August, for children aged 4 – 14 years.

Ambition Dance are running Dancing, Singing and Acting workshops in August. Themes include School of Rock, Aladdin, Toy Story and The Lion King. 

Dandelion Theatre Arts have drama and dance Summer workshops until the 23rd August.

TinyTalk has Summer Holiday classes at Glyn Hall.

Swimtime has some Summer-holiday swimming crash courses at DW Fitness.

Monkey Music has various Summer Holiday Workshops.

Grow Cook Enjoy have a number of workshops over the holidays.

Lili-Mae’s School of Performing Arts is doing Dance Workshops from 27th to 30th August.

For Your Diary

Homemade Sunday is taking place at St Mary’s, Cuddington on Sunday 1st September from 10.30am to 12.00pm.

Events by Inspire Wedding Fairs has wedding fairs from September 2019 to February 2020.

There are guided walks at Langley Vale Wood on the 4th and 10th of September.

Chessington Open Air Cinema and Live Music is happening on Thursday 5th September.

Epsom and Ewell’s Mayoress is hosting an Afternoon Tea at the Rubbing House on Saturday 7th September, in aid of the Mayor’s charities. Tickets are £25 – booking is essential.

Epsom RDA has a Fun Ride on Sunday 8th September, from 10.00am, in aid of the RDA.

There is an Epsom Food and Drink Festival taking place at Rosebery Park on Sunday 8th September.

And Kidnation’s Summer Sessions 2 takes place on Sunday 8th September from 1.00pm.

Gatwick Aviation Museum has a Fun Day on Saturday 14th September from 10.00am to 4.00pm.

Ewell Court House and Library have an Open Day and Picnic in the Park on Sunday 15th September.

The Epsom RDA’s 50th Birthday Celebration is also taking place on the 15th September, from 3.00pm.

There is a Gatsby-inspired Charity Ball on Saturday 28th September.

The Epsom Downs summer Season Finale is taking place on Sunday 29th September, from 12.00pm.
