Warm Wednesday’s @ Epsom Methodist Church returns on the 1st November.  It’s an initiative initially set up when the UK had the energy crisis last year and I’m glad to see this support return as there are so many in our community still struggling financially whether it be from the general increase of the cost of living or mortgage rate increases.  I visited Warm Wednesday last year with my two boys to see how it all worked and it was an enjoyable afternoon with entertainment, a quiet corner for arts and crafts or to do any homework.   There were cakes (homemade and delicious)  and biscuits and tea available for parents.   The lovely vicar is also on hand if you fancy a chat.   The meals are freshly cooked and served up by the lovely kitchen staff – often a balanced meal such as jacket potatoes or pasta, a lovely way to meet other families and have a lovely hot meal together.   This is a very friendly environment and welcome to all faiths, it’s about them providing a hub for the community.

So if you are going to struggle to stay warm this winter or need some support do go and join others every Wednesday from the 1st November 23 – 13th March.

Time table is as follows:

10am – 3.30pm – Hot drinks and stay cosy
12pm – 1.30pm – Hot Soup and a roll
3.30pm – 6pm – Family after school club – with games, kids entertainment, homework space, and evening meal

This is a FREE service for all to attend.

This year the church will also be running a one stop advice cafe to help anyone with the following topics:

– Mental Health & Wellbeing
– Benefits, Welfare Rights, Housing, Rents
– Energy Saving & Dealing with Energy Suppliers
– Finding a Job & Accessing Training
– Budgeting and Managing Your Money
