It’s Panto season and we went to the annual Christmas Pantomime at the Epsom playhouse this week for the Spiller Pantomime’s adaptation of “The Wizard of Oz”.  We went with two of our children 16 and 11 and it was a great way to set the happy mood for the last stretch before Christmas.

The storyline loosely follows the original film, the family home is swept away in a Cyclone and Dorothy and Toto her dog find themselves in Munchkin land.  It follows Dorothy on her quest to find the “Magic Mike” and the gift of performing whilst pursued by the wicked Witch of the West who is desperate to retrieve her dead sisters magic Ruby slippers which Dorothy so conveniently landed on! 😊

The show was fun, full of audience participation, singalongs and maybe a sprinkling of water!  A very sweet little dog “played” Toto and did amazingly well.  As for the favourite characters, between us we chose the “Scarecrow” who often jumped in and out of character with great comedy and the “Lion” for his legendary “pud em up, pud em up” phrase.

If you want some light hearted family entertainment and to get into some festive spirit the show is now on until 1st January 2024.  You can book tickets here.

There is also a Relaxed Performance on Wednesday 27th December 2023
RELAXED PERFORMANCE – This performance offers a relaxed attitude to noise & movement throughout the show. Small changes will be made to lighting and sound effects. Low level lighting will be kept on throughout the show. The Auditorium doors will be kept open throughout the show.  You can book tickets here
