Mercury @ Epsom Playhouse 

Mercury have firmly established themselves as one of the world’s most authentic tributes to Freddie Mercury and the legendary Queen and they are back on the road in 2023 – exactly 50 years after Queen released their debut album! They’ll be at Epsom Playhouse on Friday, 8th September (7.30pm).

50 LGBTQI+ Who Changed The World Art Exhibition 

A unique exhibition (free entry) created by French artist Florent Manelli is taking place at Bourne Hall from Friday, September 8th until Friday, 22nd September. 50 LGBTQI+ Who Changed The World pays tribute in 50 portraits to the activists, personalities, writers and artists who have advanced the LGBTQI+ movement and celebrates those who have fought to create a more inclusive and tolerant world.

Short Stories Tall Tales @ The Horton

On Friday, 8th September (11.30am and 1:30pm) your little ones can enjoy a live, sensory first theatre experience from Short Stories Tall Tales at The Horton. Hannah Summers brings classic, modern and original stories to life and this month the session features The Giraffe who wouldn’t bath.

Immerse your little ones imaginations through live performance, fully interactive role-play, props, music and creative drama. An exciting adventure into stories and exploration through the senses.

Happy’s Circus at Warren Mead Schools, Banstead 

On Saturday, 9th September Happy’s Circus is coming to Warren Mead!

Drinks and refreshments will be available from 12pm until 4pm with The Big Top opening for seats to be taken between 1.30 and 1.45pm.

Learn about the Vikings @ Bourne Hall

Discover how far the Vikings travelled at Bourne Hall Museum Kids Club on Saturday, 9th September (1pm to 2.30pm).

The Vikings’ homeland was Scandinavia: modern Norway, Sweden, and Denmark. From here they travelled great distances, mainly by sea and river – as far as North America to the west, Russia to the east, Lapland to the north and the Mediterranean World (Constantinople) and Iraq (Baghdad) to the south; also Great Britain, Ireland and France where they became the Normans.

The Terrier Derby – POSTPONED

The Terrier Derby is taking place on Sunday, September 10th at Epsom Downs Racecourse. Registration is from 12.00pm and races start at 1pm.

It is the 20th anniversary of the Terrier Derby and as well as the races, there’ll be a fun dog show and a new surprise attraction ‘The Isle of Dogs’ by artist Patrick Furness featuring 1000 squeaky toys. Dan’s Beer Run

Saturday 16th September you can do a 15km, 25km or 50km pub crawl walking, running or cycling.  There are different start times for each run starting from 8am.

The routes are all set along the lovely Surrey trails with friendly people to guide you around and if you fancy it you can quench your thirst in the pubs along the way. Not compulsory but gently encouraged!

Cash in the Wardrobe

Cash in the Wardrobe at Bourne Hall Ewell is for anyone wanting to buy pre-loved, second hand, vintage or even new clothes. It’s held every third Saturday of the month (Saturday, 16th September) 9am-3pm.

Entry is free, and you can expect to find clothing, shoes, bags, belts, hats, accessories and jewellery.

Surrey Stands With Ukraine 

The Angels are again supporting Surrey Stands With Ukraine to raise funds – this time for Fire Engines for Ukraine – at the Epsom Social on Saturday, 16th September (from 7pm).

Head down for what will be an incredible vocal and retro music experience, with all ticket sales supporting the Fire Engine purchase. Tickets are £12 in advance or VIP tables upon request.

Ewell History Day 

Ewell History Day

Organised by Bourne Hall Museum, Ewell History Day is a FREE event taking place on Saturday, September 16th (10am-5pm).

Discover all about the historic village of Ewell from the Bronze age, Iron age and Romans to the Tudors, The Witch hunter and WWII. Visit Ewell’s own spaceship at Bourne Hall, drop into the library, try children’s activities, and discover the fascinating past of Epsom and Ewell at Bourne Hall Museum. Also see the exhibition on the history of the 3rd Epsom (St Martins) Epsom’s oldest scout troop!

With exhibits ranging from prehistoric times to the modern day, the permanent displays and regular exhibitions illustrate every aspect of local life and have something to interest all members of the family. The Museum charts the Borough’s history through its collections of document and picture archives, fine art, costume, archaeology, and social history.

The Bourne Hall café will open from 8am for breakfast and will be open all day for ice creams, sandwiches, ploughman’s, vegan boxes, kiddies’ boxes, scones  and lots of lovely cakes – along with tea and coffee, soft drinks and wine.

Ewell Horticultural Association – Autumn Show 

On Saturday, 16th September, the Ewell Horticultural Association Autumn Show will be held at Blenheim High School (Epsom, KT19 9BH). The Show opens to visitors from 2pm until 4pm and entrance is free.

Visitors can purchase home-made cakes; plus there will be a raffle and competitions for children. There’ll also be stalls selling plants and bulbs, gardening sundries, floral art accessories and greetings cards.

Health & Wellbeing Fair 

Head down to Rosebery Park, Epsom on Saturday 23rd September (10am-3pm) for the Health & Wellbeing Fair – a free event celebrating activities in the borough that aid health and wellbeing. This fun interactive day is for all the family with stalls and local groups giving talks, demonstrations and performances.

Epsom RDA Annual Open Day & Dog Show – NEW DATE! 

There’s a new date for the Epsom RDA Annual Open Day & Dog Show 2023. It’s now taking place on Sunday, 24th September from 1.30pm.

Head down to see riding displays featuring The Windsor Light Cavalry and Honourable Artillery Company, meet their horses and visiting Shetland ponies and for the grand opening by celebrity and BAFTA winner Lenny Rush of the refurbished sensory track. There’ll also be face painting, a magician, bar and refreshments.

Additionally, there’s a dog show open to all well-behaved sizes and breeds with eight fun classes to participate in.

The Horton Book Club

Join a literary adventure by heading along to The Horton’s inaugural Book Club meeting. The book club is currently reading ‘The Lost Bookshop’ by Evie woods. The book will be discussed at the next meeting on Wednesday, 27th September (1.30pm-2.30pm).

Led by volunteer Kalli Pasquialucci, it is free to be part of The Horton Book Club. The Horton Café will be open if you’d like to grab a drink or something to eat beforehand.

St John’s Season of Music – Mamma Mia Sing-Along 

It’s sing-a-long night at St John’s Church, Stoneleigh on Saturday, 30th September (7.30pm). Time to channel your inner Dancing Queen and enjoy the music of Abba. Imagine yourself on a Greek island where a local girl is about to be married. Imagine she discovers that any one of three men could be her father and so invites them all to the wedding without telling her Mum. Imagine the chaos!

Bring friends, bring a drink and snacks…70’s outfits, disco dancing and loud singing highly encouraged. The main raffle prize is two tickets for Abba Voyage.

Children’s Trust – Pyjama Day 

The Children’s Trust is asking you to hold your own Pyjama Day at your organisation (nursery, school, office) as a fun and easy way for you to support children and young people with an acquired brain injury and help them to live the best life possible. All you need to do is register/sign up, and you can come dressed in your favourite pyjamas, cosiest dressing gowns and coolest slippers during National Pyjama Week (Monday, 2nd – Sunday, 8th October).
