The clocks have gone back, the nights are drawing in and it feels like we’re well on the march to winter (and dare I say it, Christmas!). Wrap up warm and head out to one of the fireworks displays or cosy on in at the theatre or one of the many other indoor events.

Here’s a round up of what’s happening in and around the area.

Love Theatre Arts (LTA) – new dance sessions 

LT DAnce

Musical Theatre school LTA has launched a new strand … Love To Dance (LT Dance). Concentrating primarily in the disciplines of Contemporary and Jazz, classes are open to children eight years plus. LT Dance is offering three taster sessions for each of their classes in November ONLY (starting November 1st).

Curry Night in aid of Epsom & Ewell Foodbank

Peacock and Co Solicitors is running a curry night in aid of Epsom & Ewell Foodbank at Tamarind Spice in Ewell on Tuesday, November 2nd. As well as delicious food there’ll be a raffle with plenty of prizes.  Email: to book your tickets.

Riverview C of E Primary and Nursery School – Fireworks

The PTA of Riverview C of E Primary and Nursery School is hosting a night of entertainment on Thursday, 4th November.

Gates will open at 5.30pm and the fireworks display will begin at 6pm. Hot and cold drinks, Hotdogs, Sweets and light toys will be sold on the night. For more details and booking go to Eventbrite.

Epsom Fireworks & Funfair 

The fireworks and funfair are back at Hook Road Arena on Saturday, 6th November. Gates open at 5:30pm with the display starting from approximately 7:45pm.

Banstead Cricket Club – Fireworks Display

Banstead Cricket Club’s Fireworks Night is on Saturday 6th, November. The event starts at 6pm and kicks off with a mixture of music courtesy of a DJ and local band Brizzler. There’ll be drinks tents and food stalls including BBQ, Fish & Chips and Asian Cuisine.

The entrance is donation (suggested £5 pp with money raised going to the following year’s fireworks). “After the main event comes further music from Brizzler and then party the rest of the night away with our DJ.”

Baroque Splendour 2021

On Saturday, 6th November at 7:30pm, Epsom Choral Society will be performing their concert entitled “Baroque Splendour.” This will be their first time in over 20 months singing to a live audience and it promises to be worth the wait.

The choir will be singing in the stunning surroundings of St Martin’s Church with an orchestra and five outstanding soloists. The vent will also be live streamed. For more details and tickets, got to: 

ALTétude French Tutoring – Kids French Classes 

There are limited spaces left for ALTétude French Tutoring’s Kids weekly classes (5-10 years old) starting on Saturday, November 6th.

Beginners Calligraphy Workshop 

On Saturday, November 6th, Stacy of SO Calligraphy is running a workshop for anyone who wants to learn the beautiful art of modern calligraphy.

In addition to expert tutorial in her studio in Ewell, each participant will receive a luxury calligraphy kit including a nib, nib holder, ink, comprehensive workbook, premium pad of paper and access to the members-only Facebook group for ongoing support and advice. Bulb giveaway – borough in Bloom 

Epsom and Ewell residents are being encouraged to take part in a council spring bulb planting giveaway to brighten up their local communities.

Bulbs will be distributed on a first-come-first-served basis at:

  • Epsom – Market Place, Sunday 7 November between 10am-12pm
  • Ewell – Bourne Hall, Sunday 7 November between 1pm-3pm
  • Stoneleigh – the Broadway, Sunday 7 November between 3pm-5pm

Epsom Playhouse: Whitney – Queen of The Night 2021

Direct from The West End, experience the ultimate Whitney Houston tribute show at Epsom Playhouse on Wednesday, 10th November. Whitney – Queen of the Night is a celebration of the music and life of one of the greatest singers of our time, which takes audiences through three decades of nostalgic mega hits.

Epsom Library 

On Wednesday, 10th November, author Emma L. Smith is holding a session at Epsom’s junior library based around her book 100 Ways In 100 Days To Teach Your Baby Maths. 

It’s a free event running from 10.30am-11am. Ask at the desk for tickets.


Esher Theatre – Journey’s End

R.C. Sherriff’s anti-war classic Journey’s End is coming to the newly established Esher Theatre 11th – 14th November (celebrating Armistice Day on 11th November and including, Remembrance Sunday on 14th November). Theatre Reviva! bring their gripping production to the venue’s opening season.

Armistice Day Service 

The borough’s main Armistice Service is organised by the council and will be held as usual at the Clock Tower, Epsom on November 11th, beginning at 10.50 am.

This service will be attended by the Mayor and Councillors, Royal British Legion, 135 Geographic Squadron Royal Engineers, Surrey Police, various schools and representatives of different faiths. The service includes a two minute silence.

Meadow Primary PTFA Fireworks

Meadow Primary PTFA’s Fireworks display is back on Friday, 12th November with a licensed bar, hotdogs, sweets, popcorn, glow sticks and more. Doors open at 6pm with the display at approx. 7.15pm.

Bourne Hall Kids Club 

On Saturday, 13th November (1pm to 2.30pm), Bourne Hall Kids Club is running a session called the The Unknown Warrior and the Khaki Detectives of WW1, which is all about one army chaplain’s idea to bring an unknown fallen soldier from his grave, take him back to Britain and there let him represent all those ‘Unknowns’.

The work of recovering and identifying soldiers from over a hundred years ago still goes on. This session is all about the story of that work, then and now.

Epsom Playhouse – The Rocket Man 

On Tuesday, 16th November, for one night only, Epsom Playhouse brings you the number one tribute to one of the greatest musicians of all time, Sir Elton John.

Nonsuch Craft Fair

The Nonsuch Craft Group Annual Fair at Bourne Hall is on for 2 weeks from the 16th to 27th November (Tuesday to Friday – 9am to 5pm, Saturday 9am to 4.30pm).  A wide selection of locally hand crafted items will be on sale including: pottery, wood turning, jewellery, knitting, crochet, embroidery, quilting, glassware, soft toys, jams and greetings cards. March With Midwives: Epsom & St. Helier

There is a nationwide vigil at hospitals all across the UK to raise awareness and show support to midwives and healthcare professionals who are currently working under enormous strain. Join the local one on November, 21st at 2pm in front of Metro Bank in Epsom town centre to #MarchWithMidwives and show your support for midwives at Epsom & St. Helier Hospitals NHS Trust. Nonsuch Alumni and Friends Cheese and Wine Evening

On Thursday, November 25th, there’ll be a special evening to celebrate 50 years of Nonsuch Primary School. For any alumni, it’ll be a chance to revisit the school, reminisce and catch up with past pupils, teachers and friends of Nonsuch Primary School.

The ticket price includes a glass of wine, some delicious cheeses and a donation to the school’s new sensory garden which is planned to celebrate this special anniversary. There will also be a secret auction to raise money for the garden with amazing prizes from local businesses.

Christmas and Craft Fayre 

Bourne Hall is hosting a Christmas Fayre on Saturday, 27th November (from 10.30am) in aid of Shooting Star Children’s Hospices. Meet Father Christmas, take part in the tombola, buy some Christmas presents or just enjoy some delicious cake. Entry: Adults £1 and children are FREE.

West Ewell Primary School Christmas Fair 

Come and join West Ewell Primary School for a big festive celebration on Sunday, 28th November (1-4pm). Father Christmas will be in his enchanted grotto, there’ll be tombola, Christmas hamper raffle, trail, face painting, festive art, games and refreshments.

The Tadworth & Walton Winter Walk

The Tadworth & Walton Tree Wardens invite you to join them on their Winter Walk on the 28th November at 2pm at the Jubilee Wood. A circular route, which takes approximately 1.5 hours and includes free refreshments and a treasure trail for children. If you are interested in joining please contact:


Christmas at Hobbledown 

Hobbledown is opening its doors at night for a festive winter light trail most days between 3rd December – 3rd January. Children will get the chance to explore the secret world of the Hobblers after dark and explore amongst the magical lights and lanterns making up the illuminated trail leading around the park… and all while enjoying a festive hot chocolate or mince pie.

Esher Theatre – Dear Santa Live 

From the author of the well-loved children’s book DEAR ZOO is Dear Santa, which is being performed live on stage 4th – 11th December at the Esher theatre.

The big man is determined to deliver the Christmas present to little hero Sarah. However, he doesn’t get it right straight away! With the help of his cheeky Elf, he finally settles on something ‘perfect’, just in time for Christmas Eve.

Epsom Playhouse – Beauty and the Beast

Panto is back at the Epsom Playhouse for 2021.  Running from the 12th December – 3rd January this year the creative team have worked their magic once again and present to you another ‘BEAUTY’ of a pantomime and Beauty & The Beast promises something for everyone.

November Epsom Market Days

There are regular Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday markets, which host a variety of stalls selling fresh, local products such as eggs, seasonal fruit and vegetables, fresh bread, butchery and fashions in Epsom’s market place.
