We’ve already has so many great events this month with so many still to come – here’s a re-cap on what’s coming up including the Epsom Town Christmas Lights Switch on:

Young Mums Coffee Group 

Home Start Epsom, Ewell and Banstead is holding a Young Mums Coffee Group on Wednesday, 15th November (1pm-3.00pm) at the Epsom Family Centre. Aimed at mums aged 23 under, it’s a chance to meet like-minded mums for a coffee and chat whilst little ones play.

St. Barnabas Church Soup Lunch 

St. Barnabas Church, Epsom is hosting a Soup lunch on Wednesday, 15th November (12.15pm-1.30pm). For soup, bread and butter, cheese, cake and refreshments it’s £6 per person.

No need to book, just turn up. Everyone welcome.

Christmas Shopping Evening 

Friends of Woodlands School is hosting a Christmas Shopping Evening on Friday, 17th November (6.30pm-9.30pm). It’s £1 entry, which will get you a free glass of fizz.

Get ahead with your Christmas shopping; there’ll be lots of lovely things on sale.

Mayfield Lavender 1st Birthday

Mayfield Lavender is about to mark the first birthday of their Gift Shop and Glasshouse Café in Epsom.  On Friday 17th November there will be tasters and demos of some of their lovely Mayfield Lavender products, plus special giveaways.

The time table for the day includes:

• 11am to 3pm – Tasters and demos with the Mayfield team. Try some of the best-selling products including their gins, lavender inspired preserves and home baked goodies from the Glasshouse restaurant.

• 12pm – Meet Mayfield Lavender owner Lorna Maye and learn about the many qualities of lavender and how it can benefit you, from enhancing sleep to easing anxiety.

• Spend over £10 in the shop and get a free lavender bag (a little birthday treat from them to you!)

• Giveaway time – Buy two bottles of Silent Pool Gin and get a voucher for two for a 90 minute Silent Pool Distillery Tour worth up to £50.

Ashtead Park Garden Centre Shopping Evening

Celebrate the start of the season on Friday, 17th November (5pm-8pm)  with a mulled wine, mince pie, festive saxophone music and 20%* of your shopping at Late Night Shopping!  Choose lights, decorations and gifts as well as gardening goodies.
*Real Christmas trees and wreaths, artificial trees, sale and discounted items, fuel, gift cards and The Olive Tree are excluded from the discount.

Epsom Film Club 

The first Epsom Film Club takes place at Epsom Methodist Church, Ashley Road, KT18 5AQ on Saturday, 18th November (starting at 7pm).

This month’s film is The Queen of Katwe, the true story of a young woman from the slums of Nairobi who discovers she has a talent for chess. We follow her journey as she struggles against the disadvantages of poverty to follow her dream of becoming a chess master.

The space will remain open afterwards for those who want to remain and discuss the film.

This is a free event, but donations for refreshments are welcomed.

Craft Club at Ewell Library

Dive into a world of creativity at Ewell Library’s Craft Club on Saturday, 18th November (11.00-11:45am) with their junk modelling session.

Christ Church Christmas Fair 

Head down to the Christ Church Christmas Fair on Saturday, 18th November (10am-2pm) for fun, food, festivities and chance to pick up some Christmas gifts. Free entry.

ATC Movie Night 

Aerial Tumbling Club (ATC) will be screening “Matilda the Musical” on the big projector at Epsom Downs Primary School on Saturday, 18th November. Non-members are welcome and children can attend in PJs and bring sleeping bags/pillows etc with them.

£Cash in the Wardrobe Market

Cash in the Wardrobe at Bourne Hall Ewell is for anyone wanting to sell or buy pre-loved, second hand, vintage or even new clothes from their wardrobe. It’s held every third Saturday of the month with the next two being on Saturday, 18th November  (10am-2pm).

Entry is free, and you can expect to find clothing, shoes, bags, belts, hats, accessories and jewellery.

Rotary Club of Ewell Quiz Night 

Head to Ruxley Church and join the Rotary Club of Ewell on Saturday, 18th November (7.30pm) for a fun evening in aid of 1st Cuddington (Warspite) Sea Scouts. Full details above.

Dylan Strong Foundation – Christmas Market  

Start your Christmas shopping early at the Dylan Strong Foundation Christmas market on Saturday, November 18th (6pm-9pm) and help raise funds for children with cancer. There’ll be shopping stalls from beautiful local shops so you can buy your loved ones something unique.

They will also be holding a raffle where you could win one of five luxury Christmas hampers. For more information go here.

Sing-along Film – Matilda the Musical 

Matilda sing-along

On Saturday, 18th November (2pm) at The Horton, get ready to sing-along during the screening of this brand new take on the Tony and Olivier award-winning musical. Roald Dahl’s Matilda the Musical tells the story of an extraordinary girl with a vivid imagination, who dares to take a stand to change her story with miraculous results.

For this child-friendly screening The Horton is providing mats and space for younger children to move around, dance and sing along. There will be a 15 minute interval in the middle of the film.

Christmas Market 

On Saturday, 18th November (11am-3pm), there is a Christmas Market at Langley Vale, Village Hall with lots of great stalls providing a host of Christmas shopping options. You can also visit Santa in his Grotto. Further details above.

Nonsuch Craft Group – Craft Fair

The Nonsuch Craft Group 2023 Fair will be on from Monday, 20th November to Saturday, 2nd December at Bourne Hall (in the Studio Room). You will find the usual high quality hand-crafted items plus some new things too. See above poster for weekday and Saturday timings.

Ruxley Church Autumn Charity Concert 

Head to see the New Venture Concert Band at Ruxley Church on Saturday, 25th November (6.30pm) – featuring some of their Emmaus star musicians!

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang @ Epsom Playhouse 

The Leatherhead Operatic Society will be presenting a dazzling production of the beloved musical “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang” at the Epsom Playhouse on Tuesday, 21st to Saturday, 25th November.

This amateur production is set to captivate the hearts of audiences young and old with its enchanting story, memorable tunes, and the sheer excitement of live theatre.

My Book Bug’s Get Ready for Christmas Online Sale 

My Book Bug is having an Online Get Ready for Christmas Sale on Tuesday, November 21st (8-10pm).

Grab a hot chocolate or mulled wine and join live from the comfort of your sofa on the night to snap up some book bargains. All new November titles will be 15% off during the sale, and as always there will also be competitions on the night to win books or book vouchers.

Choice Cut Young Film Screening Club 

Do you love film? Are you aged 15 – 20? Do you want to share your passion for film with the local community?

The Horton is looking for people aged 15-20, who are passionate about the power of film, to join its Choice Cut Film Club. This is a unique opportunity to develop your employability skills and add creative industry experience to your CV as well as enjoy some great films.

The club will run from 22 November 2023 to the end of March 2024.

Epsom Christmas Lights Switch On 

The Epsom Christmas Lights Switch On is taking place in the Market Square on Friday, 24th November (6pm-9pm). There’ll also be food and drink and plenty of family fun.

A Festive Tale at the Ashley Centre 

Head down to The Ashley Centre, Epsom on Saturday, November 25th and Sunday, November 26th (10.30am-4pm) for two enchanting days of festive fun. In addition to the spectacular Christmas tree light switch on event, they have an incredible schedule of activities planned. Enjoy live performances, storytelling, photo opportunities, face painting and even a meet with the Gruffalo!

ABBA-themed bottomless brunch at The Ginistry 

The Ginistry is hosting an ABBA-themed bottomless brunch on Saturday, 25th November (12pm-2pm).

Get ready to indulge in a brunch that’s fit for a dancing queen with bottomless drinks, steak & chips and an iconic ABBA tribute duo.

It might not be a whole week, but it promises to be a major fashion occasion. Join Epsom & Ewell Families on Saturday, 25th November at Epsom Social for an amazing day of events:

11am – 5pm: Shop ‘til you drop with some amazing Surrey fashion & accessory retailers, SW Wardrobe, Signature Style With Marsha, SID Couture and A & F Accessories (to name a few). FREE entry – pop by at any time, shop and have a bite to eat in the food hall.

Hope into Action – how to help the homeless 

Jon Kuhurt, CEO of Hope into Action UK (which enables churches to house the homeless), will give an interactive talk about homelessness followed by Q&A at Epsom Methodist Church on Sunday, 26th November (6-8pm). Find out about the real problems in Epsom and what you can do to help.

Epsom Antiques, Vintage & Decorative Arts Market 

This unique market offers 35+ stalls of antique collectables, curios, vintage, retro, bric a brac as well as vinyl records from traders and enthusiasts from across the South and beyond.

NEAT HQ Open Day

Tadworth & Walton Residents’ Association Christmas Event

Support the local community and businesses by joining in the fun at the Tadworth & Walton Residents’ Association Christmas lighting event on Wednesday, November 29th. Epsom Library – Stripey Stork’s Christmas campaign

Epsom Library is supporting Stripey Stork’s Christmas campaign, Santa Stork. Donations can be dropped off from now until the end of the month. The items needed are Christmas themed chocolate, new lego sets for all ages and new toiletry gift sets for men and women.

Stripey Stork is based in Reigate and supports vulnerable families across Surrey with all the practical items they need for their children (from 0-16 years old). In addition to its year-round support for families facing hardship, Santa Stork, aims to provide a brand-new Christmas gift for children across Surrey who would otherwise go without.
