The use of iron changed the life of folk with other advances like the potter’s wheel, the lathe for woodworking, and the rotary quern for grinding grain. The population grew substantially till it exceeded one million, due to the introduction of improved varieties of barley and wheat, and increased farming of peas, beans, flax, and other crops.
