Work Stress Solutions 

Work Stress Solutions is offering a free 5-week online discussion group where you can get support in a safe environment and talk about any issues you are facing in work (gaining and retaining), education or volunteering.

Thursday Yoga Course 

The Horton is running a six-week yoga course starting on Thursday, 5th January and finishing the 2nd of February (9.15am to 10.15am).

Yoga teacher Louise Tozer will incorporate breathing techniques, sound and gentle movements into her classes to improve self-awareness, flexibility and relaxation.

Bourne Hall Museum Kids Club – Terrible Trenches of WW1

Discover what life was like in the trenches on the Western Front for ordinary infantryman on Saturday,  January 7th (1pm-2-30pm). Were the rats really as big as cats and why did the men spend so much time chatting?

Join up and keep your uniform smart despite the dreadful conditions. Learn what equipment and weapons you would be issued with and how effective they were. Decide if you could survive longer than the average six week lifespan of a second lieutenant!

Crossfit Open Day

Come and try Ascension Training for free at the Open Day on Saturday, 7th January.  Try one of the classes for free as well as talk to the coaches about the fundamentals of weightlifting, nutrition and general information about training.  You can also stick around for a coffee and chat to the coaches and existing members to get a feel for the community.

Realistic Music Academy Open Day

Realistic Music Academy is holding an Open Day on Saturday, 7th January from 9am – 3pm.  Pop along for a free trial lesson for guitar, bass, drums, vocals, keys and ukulele.  All ages welcome.

Puddle Jumping Weekends at Godstone Farm

Wear your wellies to Godstone Farm this January if you’re looking for some serious fun. Puddle Jumping Weekends at Godstone Farm start on the weekend of January 7th/8th and continue through to January 28th/29th.

Children can enjoy the farm’s puddle practice zone and jump around to their heart’s content. There’ll also be an exciting Splash Zone for everyone to splish and splash their way through challenges. Wade your way through puddle jumping challenges throughout the day and have a go at welly throwing – they’ll be hosting competitions with scores on a league board. You can also get creative at the colouring station in the indoor Playbarn with the opportunity to design a welly.

Epsom Farmers Market

The first Farmers market of 2023 is being held on Sunday, January 8th (9:30am to 1:30pm).

You’ll find a huge array of diverse, artisan and locally produced foods and products including: fresh meats, sausages, poultry, game, eggs, fish, fruit & veg, herbs, freshly baked breads, cheeses, pies, cakes and seasonal plants.

Badminton @ the Ebbisham Sports Club

Ebbisham is running a BISI Badminton course on Sundays from 8th January – 12th February. This is a fantastic introduction to the sport for children ages 4-8 years old.  If you’re interested in signing up please email to register your interest.

Curator’s Tours in the Museum of Epsom and Ewell at Bourne Hall

Every Wednesday from the 11th of January until the 22nd of February (inclusive), there will be an hour-long tour of the museum led by the curator. It offers a chance to learn more about the fascinating people and stories behind the objects on display. It will also be an opportunity to see items the museum has only just acquired and objects not normally on display.

Why not bring along that mystery coin or piece of pottery you found in the back garden, or perhaps the heirloom you have at home and wondered what it is or how old? Bring it along and test the experts!

Tours begin at 11am and finish at 12pm (meet in the front gallery).

Six Week Life Drawing Course 

Professional practising illustrator and graphic designer Steve Trimm will be running a six-week ‘figure drawing’ workshop every Wednesday at The Horton starting January 11th and running up to and including February 15th. During the course – which is for all abilities – you’ll learn the basics of life-drawing or improve existing skills, and develop the ability to observe and capture the human form in various poses, media and visual styles. The workshops are with nude models.

Classes are two hours long (with a 15 minute refreshment break) and run from 11am – 1pm.

Dance Yourself Dizzy

DANCE YOURSELF DIZZY is launching on Thursday, 12th January (7-8pm).  It’s a fun dance class for adults taking place at Langley Vale Village Hall.  Pre-booking only via the website

Drumzola at Esher Theatre 

Tickets are now on sale for DRUMZOLA ‘The Showcase’, which is taking place on Friday, 13th January (8pm-1am). DRUMZOLA is a brand-new fully rehearsed and choreographed DJ and Latin percussion stage show and is a fresh new creation by former Kiss FM DJ Steve Facey.

Esher Theatre will be transformed into a House Music Arena (all seats will be removed for 100% dancing) where Steve will DJ a unique 60-minute house music set live on stage (10pm-11pm) with three of London’s finest percussionists to bring you the ultimate DJ and percussion show. The Greatest Magician: An Evening of Wonders

Virtual Cook Along and Workout   

Avia Surrey PT has a few tickets left for its online event on Thursday, 5th of January (7pm-8.30pm).

Learn how to cook a delicious, packed with-flavour meal whilst gaining new skills. The menu will include poached chicken (tofu or halloumi as substitutes), white bean and butternut squash salad with pomegranate, feta and mint.

Jaz Delorean @ The Horton

Jaz Delorean is taking his solo show on the road. The London-based British soloist singer/piano player and flamboyant frontman with Tankus the Henge will be playing at The Horton on Friday, January 20th (doors open 7.00pm).

The songs that he sings and plays on the piano take inspiration from bar-room players of the Old West, the mournful melodies of his Cypriot ancestry and a patchwork of comic and tragic stories from growing up around a travelling funfair. As a solo artist, Jaz melds undertones of New Orleans jazz and blues, and vocals reminiscent of Louis Armstrong or Tom Waits with memorable melodies.

Tasha Leaper as Madonna

Chocolate and Mood Swings  – 10 things GPs don’t tell you about Perimenopause

Beauty and the Beast Pantomime 

The Pilgrim Pantomime company is returning to Banstead with their Beauty and the Beast panto, which will take place on Wednesday, 25th January through to Saturday, 28th January (7.30pm – 10.00pm plus a Saturday Matinee).

Head to the The Institute, Banstead High Street to enjoy this classic story of a gruesome beast, a beautiful maiden, the good fairy battling the bad fairy and all the usual fun, frolics, songs and laughter.

Epsom Medical Equipment Fund Fundraising Dinner

The Epsom Medical Equipment Fund (EMEF) will be holding its next fund-raising dinner at Il Capriccio, High Street, Ewell on Wednesday, 25th January (7pm).

Tickets will be £30 for a three-course meal (drinks extra). Please contact Bess Harding to book your place – Tel: 020 8337 8181. These events help raise the money to buy essential medical equipment for Epsom General Hospital.

YMCA East Surrey – Step Forward sessions

YMCA East Surrey is starting a new Step Forward session on Fridays at the Focus Centre (3.30pm-5.30pm).

Step Forward is free for 17-24 year olds who are experiencing mental health or emotional wellbeing issues. Come and meet likeminded people in a relaxed environment and look after your emotional wellbeing in 2023.
