THE FIRST MEAL OUT @ THE COCK INN, HEADLEY…

Posted by Devenia Besant on 20 Jul 2020

After months of cooking for a family of 5 (with the odd take away) I was both looking forward to a meal out and also anxious about what to expect eating out after the outbreak of Covid-19.  For our first restaurant visit (myself, hubby and my youngest son) we chose The Cock Inn, Headley because I’ve eaten there before (check out Kalli’s blog) I knew the food would be great and they had a children’s menu and outside space.

Luckily we chose a sunny afternoon and when we arrived the staff were warm and friendly (just as they were on our previous visit).  Directly inside we were presented with hand sanistiser and then shown to our seats outside, we also confirmed our details for track and trace.   Seating was spaced out enough that you felt socially distanced from other diners, perfect!  Our table was clear of any cutlery and salt and pepper, a precaution to avoid spreading germs.  Once seated we ordered drinks and I’ve got to say I thoroughly enjoyed my first glass of wine out, we were then left to have a look at the menu.

For our main meal I opted for Crab fishcakes from the specials menu and my husband and son ordered fish and chips and portion sizes were just right!  Only when we were served our food were we given our cutlery and condiments (salt, pepper and ketchup were sachets rather than bottles or shakers).

We all enjoyed our food, felt safe and found the service to be perfect under the circumstances and wouldn’t hesitate on recommending a visit to anyone.

If you would like to find out more about The Cock Inn or book a table, you can head over to their website, Facebook or Instagram.  They are also a dog friendly pub and we will be taking advantage of that on our next visit and will take our dog Bear.

Lastly The Cock Inn are taking part in the government’s Eat Out to Help Out scheme. Every Monday to Wednesday in August, you will be eligible to receive 50% off your food and soft drinks, up to £10 off, for every member of your table.  Table bookings can be made here.

Enjoy!
