THE FAMOUS SUNDAY ROAST @ THE FAMOUS GREEN MAN, EWELL VILLAGE #REVIEW…

The Famous Green Man – we have probably all heard of it, even walked past it numerous times and it has had prime spot in the middle of Ewell Village for almost 100 years. As a family we had never actually ventured in – I guess I always associated it with being only a drinking pub showing sport. However this year under new ownership and after the reopening of the kitchen after 6 years they are now welcoming families and serving some really lovely food. We recently visited on a cold Sunday afternoon to give the Roast dinner a try, having seen videos and pictures of it across social media, we knew we were in for a treat!
The Roast dinner is a choice of Half Roast Chicken, Roast Sirloin of beef, Roast Pork Belly or Roast Lamb or of course you can go all out and order the sharing Trio Roast. All roasts are served with Roast Potatoes, Honey Roasted carrots, Hisip Cabbage, Yorkshire Pudding, Parsnip puree and Red wine gravy. We started with the Salt and Pepper Squid and Garlic, Chilli and Onion Sautéed King Prawns. For mains three of us had the chicken roast, our eldest son had the beef and our daughter (fussy eater) opted for the burger and chips. As a family of 5 it’s quite difficult to please all of us but EVERY one of us enjoyed our meals, the portions were incredibly generous including the kids meal.
You don’t of course have to choose the Roast dinner, they have a selection of other traditional pub dishes available too including:
– Fillet Steak
– Beer Battered Fish and Chips
– Fish of the Day
Amongst others.
The Famous Green Man are really hoping more local people will pop in and give them a try. Axel and his team are ready to give you a warm welcome. After being in the area for so long I am glad we finally gave them a try and look forward to returning!
