The Lavender Theatre

‘Annie Get Your Gun’ is playing at the Lavender Theatre until the 5th of August and you can book your tickets at  Kalli’s recently visited you can check out her blog review here.

Hobbledown Hullabaloo

New for this summer is Hobbledown Hullabaloo. This festival of fabulous fun runs all summer until Sunday, 3rd of September.

Unleash your imagination in this enchanting summer extravaganza, where kids are encouraged to go out into the great outdoors, get messy, and get creative. The line-up includes:

Summer Holiday Craft Workshop – Craft My Day  

Looking for an exciting and enriching holiday experience for your child? Then look no further than Craft My Day‘s Holiday Craft Club in Worcester Park (they are also running classes in Walton; dates in August start from the 2nd).

Offering a thrilling line-up of different craft projects each day (3 hour sessions) throughout the summer holidays from mesmerising paper crafts and vibrant painting to slimy sensory adventures, sewing and Powertex, your child will embark on a creative journey like no other!

Summer Drama Course with Scoot Theatre 

Join Scoot Theatre Company for an exciting four day Summer Drama Course for 11-16 year-olds, running from August, 1st-4th (9.45am-3.45pm) in The Horton’s Performance Space.

Guided by a leading theatre industry professional, participants will explore devising, puppetry, speech writing, rhetoric, working as an ensemble, improvisation and more. The varied course focuses on developing the “soft skills” of resilience and growth mindset through drama.

Participants are encouraged to attend the whole course but are free to book specific days. The course is open to all regardless of experience.

Tattenhams Community Library’s Summer Fun Programme continues throughout August (2nd, 8th, 15th, 16th, 22nd & 23rd – 2pm-3.30pm) with craft workshops, teddy bear’s picnic, drama workshops and holiday games.

Bourne Hall Museum Walks – Chalk Lane to World’s End

The first of Bourne Hall Museum’s series of guided walks around Epsom and Ewell is on Wednesday, 2nd August (1.30pm to 3pm).

From Madan’s Walk to Worlds End, enjoy walking around this fascinating part of old Epsom . Discover Highgate House and its resident ghost together with other grand houses including Maidstone House and Woodcote House. See the Durdans, home to Lord Rosebery and visited by Charles II and Edward VII: hear about Frederick Prince of Wales who lived there, son of George II and father of George III. Learn about the influence of the Northey family and discover pubs past and present and the impact that both World Wars had on this tranquil part of town.

Stoneleigh Reading Group – Stoneleigh Library

The next Stoneleigh Reading Group is on Friday, August 4th (2.30pm – 3.30pm).

The group is aimed at book lovers who enjoy meeting like-minded readers and talking about the books they’ve read, and for people who like the challenge of discovering books they wouldn’t normally choose.

The adult groups are free to join but there is a nominal charge each time they meet (£1.00 – £1.50) to cover the cost of book reservations. Two books are reviewed at each meeting.

The junior book group is free, fun and there are cookies!

Nature Friendly Gardening & Impact of Record Temperatures on our Eco Systems 

On Sunday, August 6th (10am to 1pm outside the Metro Bank), Epsom & Ewell Extinction Rebellion will be sharing ideas on nature friendly gardening, and highlighting the impact on our fragile ecosystems of the incredible temperatures we are experiencing around the world. Merland Rise Kids Summer Workshops – Jewellery Making 

Merland Rise is running a series of kids’ workshops on Mondays (9.30am-12.15pm) throughout the summer for £6 or less to provide something fun you can do with the kids for a few hours without spending very much! The one on August, 7th is jewellery making with The Dragonfly and Lotus Emporium.

Their café will also be running a ‘Kids eat for £1 with any adult meal’ deal throughout the summer too!

Young People’s Chess Club – Stoneleigh Library 

The next Stoneleigh Chess Club is on Saturday, 12th August (2.30pm-3.30pm) in the Community Room.

The FREE informal sessions give children an opportunity to have fun playing and learning about chess together and to share tips and strategies on how to improve their game. Beginners are also very welcome.

Chess Club is for 8 to 16-year-olds. Children aged 7 are welcome to join in but will need an adult to stay with them. The sessions are supervised by one of our adult volunteers, sometimes helped by young volunteers aged 14 – 17 years.

Pre-booking is not necessary, just go along and join in. Free refreshments are provided for the children.

Ice Cream Sunday at St. Mary’s Ewell 

Are you thinking about what to do with the kids in the Summer hols? Why not head down to Ice Cream Sunday at St Mary’s, Ewell on Sunday, August 13th (3-5pm).

Merland Rise Film Morning 

The Merland Rise Film Morning is taking place on Monday, August 14th (10.30am-12pm) and it’s FREE entry. Snacks can be purchased when tickets are booked.

Due to licensing rules, they are unable to publicise the title of the films, but you are welcome to email to ask for the titles (but you might be able to guess from the below!).

Madagascar at The Horton 


Don’t miss out on a roaring good family film! Madagascar (U) plays at The Horton on Wednesday, 16th August at 10.30am.

Enjoy the big screen in a relaxed and informal environment. For this child friendly screening The Horton is providing mats and space for little ones to move around and dance. There is a 10 minute interval in the middle of the film.

Summer French GCSE Revision – ALTétude French Tutoring

Junior Badminton Workshops 

Ebbisham Sports Club’s Junior Badminton Workshops are a fun way to learn more about badminton for children and improve their game. The second summer one is running between Wednesday, August 30th and Friday, September 1st (10am-12pm).

Godstone Farm’s Hay Down Hoe Down

Head down to Godstone Farm throughout August, and up until Sunday, 3rd September for Wild West themed adventures!

Join in the line dancing lessons, learn to lasso like a pro with lasso lessons, as well as rustling up your best shot at Wiglet’s Ranch. Budding cowboys and cowgirls can visit the Craft Barn to create their own cowboy hat and cactus, plus have a go at horseshoe throwing.
