Spring is officially here and Easter is on the way, which means school holidays, lots of chocolate, egg hunts and plenty of events for the whole family.
Here’s what’s going on with details of the many holiday camps/workshops that are taking place.
Ewell Horticultural Association – Spring Show
Ewell Horticultural Association presents its first Show of 2023 at Blenheim High School on Saturday, April 1st (2-4pm). See the displays of bright and cheerful spring flowers, floral art plus photography and craft and design. Tea and cakes available plus free car parking.

Ewell Court Library Easter Extravaganza
On Saturday, 1st April (10am until 12 noon), Ewell Court Library is holding its Easter Extravaganza.
Fun for all the family. Come dressed up to claim a prize!
There’ll be a range of free activities including a trail, face painting, crafts and more. Also raffles (free for children, bargain for adults) and a cake stall provided by Ewell Court WI.
Easter Egg Trail at Rosebery Park
Age Concern Epsom & Ewell is hosting an Easter Egg Trail on Saturday, 1st April be hosting an at Rosebery Park, Epsom
between 10am-12pm for under 12s. Find the clues to reveal the special prize!
All children must be supervised at all times. £3 per entry with a prize for every completed entry card.

The Great Easter Grotto Escape at Godstone Farm
Godstone Farm is introducing its Great Easter Grotto Escape between Saturday, 1st of April and Sunday, 16th April.
Hop into the Easter Grotto with your team and help to save Easter in this immersive Easter experience. This is an optional upgrade, which includes a visit to the Easter Grotto with treats along the way and an exciting visit to the Easter Bunny!
Your visit also includes a day of farmyard fun and additional Easter activities. There’ll be egg and spoon contests, bunny hop sack races and egg-cellent Easter crafts. Easter Baking Masterclass @ The Horton
Get into the holiday spirit with Grow Cook Enjoy‘s fun and relaxed adult Easter baking workshop on Saturday, 1st April (1-4pm). Jayne McGhee will lead this 3-hour Masterclass by making three different tasty treats.
Bakers will learn how to:
– Make hot cross bun dough from scratch and craft into traditional hot cross buns
– Create a decorative sweet Easter braid
– Make and bake delicious Seminal muffins
All ingredients and equipment will be provided. Your creations will go into a special oven at The Horton and be ready to take home and eat.

Leatherhead Museum Grand Re-opening
Leatherhead Museum presents a major new exhibition by The LiterARTY Collective – Jane Austen’s Leatherhead. Head down on Saturday, April 1st to celebrate this exciting new exhibit exploring Jane Austen’s connections to Leatherhead, then discover all the other innovative displays that have been introduced as part of Leatherhead Museum’s ambitious update.
They have six rooms full to the brim with local stories, featuring Remarkable Romans, Sensational Saxons, ‘Made in Leatherhead’, the Interactive Cottage Kitchen, the Gallery, ‘The Great Big Tiny Museum Quiz’ and a new book and gift shop.

Easter at Hobbledown
At Hobbledown this Easter, you won’t just be hunting regular eggs, you’ll also be hunting Dragon eggs! Their holiday activities run daily from April 1st – 16th and are all included free of charge in your general admission ticket.
* Egg hunt – It’s not just Crystalite gems that are hidden under the sand at The Mining Village and Courtyard – there are 100 treasured eggs. Find one, and win yourself a prize!

Aerial Tumbling Club – Easter Camps
ATC is a British Gymnastics registered club, which runs holiday camps during every school holiday. The camps are run by a team of qualified and experienced coaches. Children get a full day of gymnastics and get the opportunity to learn new skills and make friends.

Baby Sensory – Free Easter Taster Session

Let’s All Dance – Cinderella @ Epsom Playhouse

Ewell History Walks
On Wednesday, April 5th (10am-12pm) and April 6th (2pm-4pm & 7.30pm-9.30pm), peel back time and discover Ewell’s hidden past and unseen history with a guided walk around the village. A settlement since pre-historic times, Ewell has a rich history concealed beneath the modern village.
Visit Bourne Hall’s sacred lake were Bronze, Iron Age and Roman folk made offerings to ancient gods. Tread in the footsteps of the Romans on Stane Street and discover their sacred shafts. Discover the village’s Saxon cemetery and its long-lost church.
Discover Ewell’s dark past, relive the terror of exploding gunpowder mills, tread in the footsteps of the body snatchers and hear stories of witches, tragic coach crashes and folk who won’t stay dead!

Bushy Park Nature Day
The Bushy Park Nature Day is taking place at the Pheasantry Plantation in Bushy Park, Teddington on Wednesday, 5th April (11am – 2pm). There are free drop-in activities for adults and families, you can discover the hidden parts of Bushy Park on a guided walk, have a go at nature-inspired crafts and learn about the wildlife that calls the park home.
Guided walks will last approximately 1 hour and leave from the gazebos outside the Pheasantry Cafe. Please note each walk is limited to the first 20 people and will leave at quarter past each hour.

The Swan Centre – Free Easter Event
Head to The Swan Centre, Leatherhead this Easter for a fun filled egg-citing line up of activities on Saturday, 8th April (11am – 4pm). Visit the Easter bunny for awesome photo opportunities at intervals throughout the day (appearing on the hour every hour for up to 30 mins between 11am – 3:30pm). There’ll be free Easter crafts, free face painting plus children can take part in the free Easter trail around the centre.

Family Film Club: Encanto Sing-Along
On Tuesday, 11th April (10.30am), The Horton is hosting a sing-along to the wonderful Encanto film. This is a fun and easy-going cinema experience and a great activity for your littles ones who can enjoy the film in a relaxed and informal environment.
For this child-friendly screening they are providing mats and space for little ones to move around, dance and sing along. There will be a 15 minute interval in the middle of the film (running time 99 minutes plus interval).

Gladiator School at Bourne Hall
On Wednesday, April 12th (11am-12.30pm & 2pm-3.30pm) Gladiator School returns to Bourne Hall Kids Club. Children will learn all about the role of a gladiator within Roman society as well as all the different types of fighting and weaponry. They’ll also be able to see the resident gladiators demonstrate their skills and be able to put their own newly-learnt skills to the test.

Superslam Wrestling @ Epsom Playhouse
All Star Superslam Wrestling are back with a second visit to The Playhouse on Thursday, 13th April.
It promises to be another rip-roaring feast of non-stop action when the giants of the ring return with a two-hour spectacle that will have you booing the villains and cheering on the good guys.

Epsom and Ewell Town Twinning Association Quiz Night
The Epsom and Ewell Town Twinning Association is hosting a fund raising quiz on Friday, 14th April (7pm-10pm) at All Saints Church Community Hall.
The Association is run by volunteers acting on behalf of Epsom and Ewell Borough Council which is twinned with Chantilly in France. It promotes artistic and cultural links between the two towns and its fund raising goes towards promoting events in Epsom to forge new links and reinforce existing ones.
Ebbisham Sports Club – Free tennis open morning
Ebbisham Sports Club would like to invite you, your family and friends to its splendid tennis clay courts during the morning of Saturday 15th, April, when they are opening their doors to the public. The Wild Escape
The Wild Escape is a major new project uniting hundreds of museums in a celebration of UK wildlife and creativity. The Wild Escape invites children ages 7-11 to their local museum to create an artwork around an animal in the Museum collection. Their pictures will be brought together in an epic collective artwork unveiled on Earth Day.
Bourne Hall Museum’s animal is the swan. Turn up on Saturday, April 15th (10am-4pm) for lots of free activities based around swans. There will be story time, hands on art making pictures, drawings and paintings. Join a Victorian school and learn about swan upping! learn to write with a dip pen to record your findings. Meet the Swan Queen and Swan fairy to learn more about these fascinating birds and the mini breasts you can find in the garden.

Cash in the Wardrobe
Cash in the Wardrobe at Bourne Hall Ewell is for anyone wanting to sell pre-loved, second hand, vintage or even new clothes from their wardrobe. It’s held every third Saturday of the month with the next one being on Saturday, April 15th (9am-3pm).
Entry is free, and you can expect to find clothing, shoes, bags, belts, hats, accessories and jewellery.

The Modern Fatherhood Club – Career Mum Session
Are you a career mum looking to return to work after having a baby? Or a partner looking to support your partner’s return to work? Then this workshop on Thursday, 13th April (from 8.15pm) is for you.
As the husband to a career mum, I know first-hand the challenges that modern mums face when returning to work after having a baby. That’s why I’m excited to announce our upcoming workshop that is designed to help both mum and dad navigate the last days of maternity leave and beyond!
Join me for an interactive, totally free session where we’ll discuss the challenges facing modern mums in returning to work and how the dads can play a key role in supporting you. With One Voice – Fundraising Concert for Ukraine
With One Voice – songs of hope & freedom on Saturday, 22nd April (7pm) is a fundraising concert to further the Ukraine cause at home and abroad. Taking place at St. George’s Church, Ashtead and featuring local singers and a Ukrainian Refugee Choir, there’ll be traditional and contemporary music from the Ukraine. Expect uplifting choral music by Mozart, Fauré and Rutter plus well-known gospel and pop song arrangements.
Earth Day Clothes Swap
The Earth Day clothes Swap is taking place on Saturday, 22nd April (3pm-6pm) at Sutton Community Dance (St. Nicholas Centre).
Go along to swap up to 10 items of good condition clothing (womenswear or menswear including shoes/bags/accessories/jewellery). You can now also bring up to five items of childrens’ wear too!

The Surrey Police Open Day
The Surrey Police Open Day, which was due to take place in September last year, has been rescheduled to Sunday, 23rd April. Join them at their HQ in Guildford for an action-packed day for all the family!
There’ll be dog trials, live demos, an insight into teams across the Force and of course lots of vehicles on display too.
The event is free but you will need to register for tickets (if you were a September ticket holder, you will be emailed with early access to tickets before they are released publicly).

Bourne Hall Museum Coronation fete
On Saturday, 29th of April (10am-4pm) Bourne Hall Museum is holding a free Coronation fete to commemorate the enthroning of our new king. The theme will be a Victorian village fete which will include the following: Maypole dancing, Punch & Judy, drill with Victorian soldiers, antique fire engine in action, music hall songs, children’s royal fancy dress competition. Also present will be Albert and Victoria, Victorian policeman, Victorian school and heavy horses, plus there’ll also be a gift market.
They’re also planning to hold a tug of war competition and are looking for teams of eight to take part (from schools, pubs, clubs or just a group of friends who want to have a go). There’ll also be a special primary schools’ competition! There will be a trophy for the winners of the different groups.

The North End Market – Sutton
The second Sutton Sustainable Market will be taking place on Saturday, April 29th.
There’ll be a range of different local small businesses each month offering preserves, candles, soaps, music, jewellery, textiles and more. Each month they will also have a children’s activity. Keep an eye on the Facebook page for the latest details.

Summer Walks 2023
Epsom Common Association (ECA) organises a number of walks on the Common each year which are led by local natural history experts. The first one of the programme is the Early Morning Bird Walk on Sunday, 30th April (7.30am). Join local bird expert Graham Cotten for a walk across the Common to spot and hear a variety of bird species, both residents and summer visitors.
All walks start from the Stew Pond car park, Christ Church Road (meet near the Gallows gate entrance) and last approximately 2 hours.
Coronation Dog Show
Calling all dogs, dog owners and dog lovers! There are just seven weeks to go until the Coronation Dog Show at Leatherhead Parish Church and Park Gardens on Monday, 8th May (12pm – 4pm).

Citizens Advice Epsom and Ewell – Charity Walk
On Sunday, May 14th (from 9am), Citizens Advice Epsom & Ewell will be walking, skipping, riding or rolling to raise funds for their community service.
Join them for a 5- or 10-mile walk in the countryside around Epsom and help them meet their target. They are walking the extra mile to raise £6,000 so they can support and give advice to people, families, neighbours, young and old, who need help. Raising £6,000 could help an additional 100 clients this year.
Register now for a self-guided 5 or 10 mile walk in the countryside close to Epsom (exact routes confirmed shortly). Entry is £5 per adult and children go free. All entrants are encouraged to gain as much sponsorship as possible.

Cuddington Beer Festival
Tickets go on sale on the 14th of April for the 2nd Cuddington Beer Festival, which is taking place on Friday, 14th July (6pm-10pm) and Saturday, 15th July (12pm-4pm & 6pm-10pm).
There’ll be a selection of over 45 ales and 25 ciders to choose from alongside a range of food options on the BBQ. Live music and entertainment will create the perfect atmosphere to enjoy a pint with your family and friends. Plenty of outdoor seating with shelter will be available.
