The past few months has proven to be a difficult time for everyone in particular to those with babies and children.  As parents during the early days specifically, we rely so heavily on the support and listening ears of fellow parents within a playgroup setting or the advice from other parents amongst a baby group, however with these set ups not being readily available throughout lockdown it is not surprising that issues regarding parental mental health have increased throughout the pandemic. With this in mind Rebecca Browne and Natalie set up Surrey Families Support Village.  Which is a free, friendly and non judgemental group for parents and carers of children up to the age of 12 within Surrey and South West London.

Both Natalie and Rebecca have backgrounds and qualifications within various aspects of child development.

Rebecca Browne is an Ofsted registered childminder and is the founder of local business; Bambino’s & Me which is a group which focuses on the wellbeing of babies, children and parents through massage, yoga and meditation.

Rebeccas expertise covers:
Baby, Toddler and Children Massage
Baby, Toddler and Children Yoga
Tummy Time Practitioner
Colic Consultant
Newborn Nurture
Soothe, Settle and Sleep
Nature Play
Developmental Play
Mindfulness and relaxation for child and parent
Wellbeing for child and parent

Natalie is a fully qualified postnatal Doula who trained with Younique Postnatal and Newborn Mothers Collective.

Natalie says in regards to her work as a Doula:
“When you know you are expecting a baby a doula can offer support with postnatal preparation and planning. Once baby arrives A doula can help with emotional support on the often overwhelming journey into parenthood, and practical tasks such as helping heal the birthing body, breastfeeding, babywearing, cooking, gentle sleep advice, support with siblings etc. “

As well as being a Doula, Natalie also works as the branch coordinator for NCT Sutton and Epsom where she volunteers at the Sling Library and the infamous bumps and babies group.

With both Rebecca and Natalies expertise combined the Surrey Families Support Village really is an amazing and much needed group where parents can voice their worries or concerns in a safe space.  With a view that once restrictions lift Surrey Families Support Village will offer face to face groups for parents to meet other parents who may have exactly the same worries as them.

Please note:
Any health related or developmental advice must always be obtained by a medical professional such as your GP, Midwife or Heath Visitor.
Surrey Families Support Village should never be used in replacement of expert medical advice it is purely a support group.
