What a lovely way to end the Summer holidays than a visit to this beautiful historic Public House ‘The Well House Inn’ in Mugswell.  Nestled in the hills just a short 10 / 15 minutes drive from Epsom – this perfect setting, surrounded by rolling hills and woodland could easily leave you feeling like you are a million miles from home…you may even see some cows!

The pub is also steeped in history going back to the 1500’s when it was originally 3 cottages and eventually converted to a Pub in the 1950’s. The village name was born from the “St Margarets Well” which sits in the corner of the garden and was used to provide fresh water to local villagers hundreds of years ago.

The pub garden is large and being on the side of a hill is tiered, with a large heated flexi-tent providing shelter so it is absolutely weather proof and would also fit large groups for a get together – you will be able to sit comfortably outside for most of the year and being dog friendly you and your furry friend will be more than welcomed with plenty of dog water bowls scattered around too.

Anyway on to the food!!!! Not being able to choose between the different meat options for Sunday Roast we greedily opted for the  ‘Roast Feast’ which is a trio – Pork, Beef and Chicken served with Roast Potatoes, Parsnips, Carrot and Swede mash a large home made Yorkshire pudding smothered in Gravy, that with a large glass of wine was just what we needed and sitting in the lovely setting with birds singing around us spending some valuable family time really was just perfect.

If you don’t want to be as indecisive (or as greedy!!!) as us you can choose from Roast Pork, Sirloin of Beef, Half Chicken or a Nut Roast as part of the roast dinner menu, they also offer the same on the kids menu too, priced from just £6.95!  If you are keen to try other dishes they also offer the traditional pub classics from Ham, Egg and Chips, Fish and Chips, Sausage and Mash to quite an impressive list of Burgers all handmade with the chefs special recipe.  From what we experienced on Sunday all dishes are served by friendly staff with a smile 🙂

This venue really is a bit of hidden gem and with its history behind it and the peaceful and quiet setting it’s a perfect spot for some quality time with friends and family.

If you are a Beer fan then they have a great event coming up next month Oktoberfest where there will be music and games as well as plenty of Beer of course.
