⭐️ Tell us a bit about you and your business?

Hi, I’m Rhiannon and I teach people to bake great bread. I’ve run The Epsom Bakehouse since 2013, first with a bread stall on the local Farmers Market and then teaching bread making. Normally, you’d be very welcome on one of my classes here in Epsom, but I’m unable to run these during the current pandemic. Instead, I’m now teaching a range of online bread making classes.

⭐️ What’s changed for your business since the outbreak of Covid-19?

As for many small businesses, lockdown has been a challenging time. All my in-person classes were cancelled overnight. However, whilst at home, many people have turned to baking as a way to have fun and relax, in particular baking bread. I’ve continued sharing bread making tips and recipes via my blog and social media to help those now baking at home. Plus, I started a weekly live Facebook bakealong, sharing simple and quick recipes you can follow at home with few ingredients – and the kids can get involved too. It’s been lots of fun and great to see people baking along each week.

I was still getting plenty of enquiries from people wanting to learn more about baking bread. So you can now also join one of my new online bread making classes. Each class teaches a different bread, from brioche to ciabatta, baguettes to cinnamon rolls and more. The reponse has been very positive and people have said that they’ve loved learning a new skill during lockdown. Many have joined a class with a family member or friend to enjoy some virtual time together during lockdown. Plus you get a tasty treat to enjoy after the class! No experience is necessary and there’s plenty of time to ask questions as we bake.

⭐️ What are you looking forward to when lock down is over?

To have a good old catch up with family and friends, especially for my little ones to see their grandparents and friends who they miss so much. And to teach students, and see other small business owners I know again, and thank them in person for all their support and encouragement for my business.

⭐️ Lastly what’s your positive message to help others through this?

Stay safe and know that this will not last forever. 🌈
