⭐️ Tell us a bit about you and your business?

I’m Sacha and alongside my husband I own Sacha Scott Estate & Letting Agents based in Nork, Banstead and covering all areas within a 45 minute travel time from there. We are a team of 6 and we exist because Scott and I had such a horrendous time moving home that we decided to come into the industry and fix it from the inside. We pride ourselves on helping with every step of the process of selling or renting a property and for us customer service comes above everything else. It doesn’t matter how long it takes or how difficult it is, if the customer feels comfortable and confident we know we are doing our jobs how we want to. Moving home is stressful and we spend a lot of our time counselling sellers and buyers through the process because we know from our own experience that there is nothing worse than feeling in the dark when you are selling and buying your biggest tax free asset or renting an investment that you have broken your back to afford. For us it’s about remembering this is a people business not a property business and invariably we end up with clients drifting into our personal life as we get to know each other over their transaction so it’s nice to work for people that end up becoming friends.

⭐️ What’s changed for your business since the outbreak of Covid-19?

We aren’t able to take on any new business right now as we are closed. To be honest, we saw the danger we posed early on, given that we interact with people all day, and chose to put people before profit and closed a week earlier than lockdown not really knowing if that was going to look bad on us or not. We just didn’t want to risk being a cause of any spread of the disease just to complete on a few extra houses. Currently we are mostly in furlough with a couple of us keeping things ticking along helping landlords and tenants and progressing sales to the extent possible under current restrictions. It’s very busy and people are genuinely helping us work around every little nuance, it is so great to see people come together and appreciate the bigger picture. Patience is better than it’s ever been between transacting parties and we feel really appreciated for trying to keep going for all of our clients.

⭐️ What are you looking forward to when lock down is over?

On a personal note, going out for a meal with the kids and spending some time with friends and family. On a professional note, getting back into the office and seeing the team at their desks working away helping people move home. All this DIY going on in lockdown will mean we will have some pristine properties to sell 😊.

⭐️ Lastly what’s your positive message to help others through this?

I keep hearing it said and it’s true, we are all in this together. Everyone is at a standstill. Everyone is worried about income, everyone is worried about bills. The thing is though, as a nation we have all learnt so much about what we can and can’t do when we are stuck indoors and most of it is positive. Meetings are taking place without 30 people jumping in cars to pollute the atmosphere, kids are learning online and getting to spend time with their friends without endangering others and seeing their parents more than they ever have. It’s going to take some time to open back up again but when it does we all need to remember to try and take some lockdown habits with us, what will yours be? I’m going to stick to mealtimes with the kids wherever I can, it’s been fantastic to congregate around the table every night and eat with them instead of being stuck at work or rushing to this club or that. Less is more and I intend to hold onto that past Covid-19 as much as I can.
