STAY POSITIVE – FACE BEHIND THE BUSINESS, GODSTONE FARM

Posted by Devenia Besant on 29 May 2020

⭐️ Tell us a bit about you and your business?

I’m Nicola and I’m the CEO of Godstone Farm in Surrey, I’m also mum to Brodie 2, Molly 5 and stepson Archie who is 12. In my normal life I travel to Godstone every day for work but I live in Epsom, was born here and have lived here most of my life. My job at Godstone Farm is totally my dream job – we have over 500 animals, lots of play areas indoors and outdoors and we run events which are so much fun. Whilst times are hard at the moment I feel incredibly lucky.

⭐️ What’s changed for your business since the outbreak of Covid-19?

We closed on Friday 20th March, there is no way we could have a work around to remain open and so even ahead of the government’s lockdown announcement we were planning to close. This means there are only a few essential staff going to the farm to feed and clean the animals and I am spending a lot of time working at home trying to work out how the future might look for us when we can open again.

⭐️  What are you looking forward to when lock down is over?

I can’t wait to see families enjoying the farm again and have all the staff back. Just being able to go the farm as usual, take in some of the lovely weather we’ve been having and let customers share the fun will be amazing. We’ve had so many baby animals over this time (see the video) and its such a shame that our visitors haven’t been able to see them up close.

⭐️ Lastly what’s your positive message to help others through this?

These have just been unprecedented times but I think it’s been amazing how communities have come together and helped each other out and it will be amazing for this good spirit to continue. Plus, many have opted to support small and local businesses which is great and I know I certainly will continue to do that.
