⭐️ Tell us a bit about you and your business?

My name is Jaya and I run ‘Breech Lane Curry House’ – an Indian cookery school based in the picturesque village of Walton on the Hill in Tadworth, Surrey. I started the cookery school with a simple purpose, to teach healthy and honest food using authentic Indian family recipes that have been closely guarded in our family for generations. Born and brought up in Delhi, I married my South Indian best friend 15 years ago. This cultural mix has been reflected in our cooking with some delicious fusion food over the years!

I run both Indian cookery classes and supper clubs offering a choice of vegetarian, vegan and non-vegetarian dishes

I started in 2017 and have not looked back since. I have had several hundred participants who have thoroughly enjoyed their experience and have also provided amazing feedback. I regularly have participants come back for more classes and supper clubs but also send pictures of food they recreate at their homes!

All the core ingredients used are organically produced and promote local businesses.

⭐️ What has changed for your business since the outbreak of Covid 19?

My venture has gone online and international! In these unusual times I have launched a series of short online Indian cookery courses – live cook alongs teaching participants our special family recipes in real time. I also offer open ended gift vouchers to treat loved ones. I organise special private online events where families, friends or work colleagues from around the world can attend the class together before sitting down for a virtual meal of delicious home cooked food from the comfort of their homes!

⭐️ What are you looking forward to when lock down is over?

Resuming our face to face cookery classes and special curry night supper clubs but also continuing with our new online classes that are proving to be a hit among people here and abroad!

⭐️ Lastly, what’s your positive message to help others through this?

From a business point of view – search for that silver lining and turn a problem into an opportunity . From a personal point of view – cherish each day with your loved ones!
