REST AND RESTORE WITH THIS LITTLE YOGINI MINI RETREATS #REVIEW…
Posted by Juliet Wheater on 06 Oct 2024
I was delighted to have been asked to visit and review a mini retreat in my hometown of Ashtead, by Epsom and Ewell Families. Although I work in the wellness industry, taking time out is something that I promote but possibly don’t implement as much as I should, into my own life!
A busy, self-employed mum of two of a certain age, a house hold to run, two dogs, unwell parents and our self-build house to manage, this was a very welcome invitation!
Our host for the afternoon was Kalli Pasqualucci aka This Little Yogini. Kalli explains that yoga for her, is about strength, focus, grounding as well as relaxation. She believes that yoga is a community and a safe place (she achieved this! our practice as a collective felt like a bubble of safety so that stress simply flowed away!) Her classes are Hatha based, meaning they are slower paced with a focus on relaxation and strength.

Our afternoon began at 3pm and there was no where I’d rather be on a drizzly October afternoon, than cocooned within a warm studio, complete with fairy lights and the warm and welcoming Kalli.
We began with a simple breathing exercise, whereby you block one nostril to focus on the other and vice versa. Sounds simple but it was incredibly powerful, in that I wasn’t taking in small waspish breaths as usual but deeper belly breaths that made me feel light and liberated.
The feeling of stiffness in my body was soon eradicated as we enjoyed the process of moving into differing yoga positions, always holding the position to enjoy the stretch and deepen into, if we could! After the yoga practice, came delicious homemade cake and a chance to journal, pull cards, take a walk and connect with the other attendees.

Finally, we closed with a beautiful sound bath. The stillness in the room was palpable, apart from the contented breathing of the collective. However, my focus soon turned to the swirling beauty of the waves of soothing, echoing sound and the vibration that my body felt. I succumbed to it all, even trying to breathe in the healing sound at one point!
Guaranteed the best night’s sleep, I recommend taking the following to Kalli’s mini afternoon retreats: bottle of water (although she does provide refreshments), yoga mat, pillow and blanket.
