NEW IN FOR SPRING @ THE DERBY ARMS, EPSOM #REVIEW…

I’ve always been a fan of the Derby Arms and not just for its idyllic setting, but because you can always rely on a great atmosphere, fabulous wine, creative cocktails, and most importantly, delicious food.

I was really excited to catch up with some of the Epsom and Ewell Families team and try the updated menus for Spring. As we sat there, we reminisced about all of the times we have visited for various occasions (birthdays, ladies day, team nights, Sunday roasts..) and always experienced the very best service – and tonight was no exception as waiting staff David and Harry were both attentive, friendly and super knowledgeable about all of the dishes, wines and cocktails available.

One of the wines from the Wine and Dine Experience menu was the Love By Leoube Rose, which we opted for a bottle of – and served ice cold – was truly delicious. This wine is a quintessential dry Provence rose. It’s a beautiful pale pink colour with attractive fruit flavours of strawberries and white peach, and perfectly balanced.
We all agreed that we would be back again in warmer weather to enjoy this wine in the lovely garden.

Something I love about the menus at The Derby Arms is that they keep the classic favourites, but update them and add new dishes to include seasonal produce.

Tempted by so many of the starters, we decided to share a few so that we could try everything!

If you enjoy “picky bits” like me then you will enjoy the Charcutierie Board; a perfect yummy sharer with friends Coppa, Fennel Salami, Milano Salami, Nocellara Olives, Sea Salt & Rosemary Focaccia, Parmesan, Smacked Pickled cucumbers and sweet peppers – now if we weren’t enjoying the typical English weather (rain!!!!) this would have gone down perfectly in the garden, never the less it was still thoroughly enjoyed inside by all 4 of us.

Another new addition is the white crab on sour dough which is served with Yuzu & Lime aioli, Kohlrabi pickle & lemon oil. We all commented how fresh and light this was, with the citrus flavours from the lime and lemon giving it a real zing.

We also indulged in Pan-fried wild scallops and the chipotle sticky chicken which again were perfectly cooked and presented. The empty plates spoke for themselves!

Then onto mains…

Dee had the pork belly with scallops, complete with crackling which she thoroughly enjoyed. This is available on both the Wine and Dine Menu and the Main Menu.

Gaby had the rump of lamb from the main menu which was cooked to perfection accompanied by chive mashed potato, vegetables and red wine sauce.

Louise opted for one of the Chef’s Specials, the pan friend hake as recommended by David and I settled for the Prawn and Chorizo Linguine which was just delicious – I also went all out and added the scallops to my main too!

If you have room for dessert (which I suggest you make sure of!) then they have some real treats on the menu.

I am a real dessert girl, and I was not disappointed with the selection on offer;

Brownie – includes Valrhona a special blend of chocolate from the Dominican republic
Trio of Desserts
Tart Aux Pomme

…to name a few!

We ended the night with the Limited Edition Easter Cocktail: Chocolate Orange Martini – yum! We had a lovely evening as always and can’t wait to return.

NEW WINE & DINE EXPERIENCE
Wine & Dine Experience for 2 people £100
Used to be Friday and Saturday nights but has now changed to Monday – Saturday from 5pm

Includes;
Three course dinner and a bottle of luxury wine to share (these bottles are c£50)
As always there is a selection of yummy deserts but if you are too full you can swap this for an After Dinner Cocktail – Passion Fruit Martini, Aperol Spritz, Espresso Martini, Amaretto Sour, a perfect way to end your night.

NEW ON THE LUNCH MENU
As well as the classics there are also some new delicious sandwich options included on the lunch menu. Choose your filling from Fillet Steak, Tempura Prawn, Chicken and Mozzarella and Hummus and Chargrilled Vegetable
Available Monday-Friday 12-5pm
2 courses for £18.95 or 3 courses for £22.95

NEW BOTTOMLESS BUBBLES
Starts from 12pm – Last sitting 3pm
Enjoy a starter main and 1.5 hours of bottomless bubbles or cocktails for £34.95 per person
