MAYFIELD LAVENDER FESTIVE AFTERNOON TEA #REVIEW…
Posted by Kat Heath on 28 Nov 2024
On a beautiful afternoon, myself and Dee had the absolute pleasure of enjoying a festive afternoon tea at the beautiful Mayfield Lavender Glasshouse Cafe, situated within the rear of the Mayfield Lavender gift shop on the Reigate Road, in Ewell.
The entrance of the stunning shop was adorned with beautiful Christmas trinkets and gifts, alongside the comforting aroma of the Mayfield Lavender oil permeating very subtly as you entered the shop.
We were welcomed warmly to our seats in the breathtaking Glasshouse cafe which is filled with beautiful cherry blossom trees and sparkling fairy lights.
Our table was decorated with crackers and a beautifully wrapped gift, (which I won’t divulge what it was to keep the surprise)
Once we took our seats we were offered a glass of their Poinsettia Prosecco Cocktail which was absolutely delicious and transported us straight into Christmas mode.
(A non alcoholic alternative of lavender lemonade is also available)
After a long overdue catch up our afternoon tea arrived on a three tier sandwich/cake stand and was certainly festive in its presentation.
There were handmade warm stuffing sausage rolls, large pigs in blankets and Stilton and broccoli mini quiches with the most buttery pastry I had ever tasted. Italy literally melted in the mouth!
The sandwiches, again Christmas themed did not disappoint with three different filings: turkey and stuffing, brie and cranberry and the traditional smoked salmon and cream cheese. Cut beautifully into finger slices.
Sweet treats included a melt in the mouth mini Yule log, exquisite Christmas chocolate florentines and a mini mince pie which admittedly was my first mince pie of the year!
Obviously no afternoon tea would be complete without a cream tea scone!
Therefore in keeping with the festive theme we enjoyed a beautiful homemade scone which was flavoured with cranberry’s and served with homemade plum preserve, made with plums grown on the premises.
To finish we enjoyed a pot of tea of our choice.
We were absolutely breathtaken by not only the presentation but the quality and quantity of the food within the festive afternoon tea. It really was a very special and memorable experience and one I would recommend over the festive period.
At £35 per head or £70 for two this stunning Festive afternoon tea is definitely great value!
Booking is essential and 24 hours notice is needed.
