This October, Mayfield Lavender have transformed their iconic purple fields into a spooky wonderland with the “Malice in Lavenderland” Halloween event – a perfect day out for families seeking frightful fun in a stunning countryside setting.
From the moment you arrive, the pumpkin adorned entrance sets the scene for a magical experience. The Halloween trail is wonderfully designed to entertain children of all ages, blending gentle frights with plenty of laughter. Along the route, little adventurers encounter quirky characters, spooky decorations, and interactive challenges that bring the story of “Malice in Lavenderland” to life without being too scary for younger visitors.

A highlight for us was the pumpkin picking, where rows of lavender fields dotted with bright orange pumpkins make for brilliant photo opportunities. Children (and grown ups) can choose their own pumpkins to take home and wheel them round the trail in cute purple wheelbarrows.

The event is well-organised, with friendly staff and plenty of seasonal treats available at the café, from hot chocolate to delicious bakes.  Parents will appreciate the mix of natural beauty and family-friendly entertainment, while children are fully absorbed in the Halloween magic.

With its blend of enchanting scenery, creative storytelling, and activities, “Malice in Lavenderland” is a must-visit for anyone looking to make half-term memories.  It’s proof that Mayfield Lavender is just as captivating in autumn as it is in summer.

When & Where:

Dates: it’s running until 2nd November 2025
Arrival Slots: 10 am, 11 am, 12 pm, 1 pm, 2 pm,  3pm  and 4pm (last entry until Saturday 25th October where the garden stays open until 5pm)  so families can linger as long as they wish.

Tickets:

• £5 per person (ages 4+)

• Free entry for children under 4

• Ticket includes garden access, pumpkin patch, and the trail (but pumpkins are to be purchased separately).
