It’s heralded as the most romantic day of the year, so if you’re looking for some inspiration for an amorous meal out read on. Epsom and Ewell and the surrounds has something to suit everyone…


The Cock Inn

An award-winning pub, The Cock Inn in Headley is set in the picturesque Epsom countryside. Its great location, menu and lovely log-burning fire make it a perfect venue for a special Valentine’s day (or any day) meal.

This February 14th you can enjoy a selection of Valentine’s specials and sharing boards or order from the usual à la carte menu and treat yourself to a mouthwatering dishes such as: Surrey Farm sirloin steak, venison and bacon pie, Surrey plant-based burger, braised English lamb shoulder or roasted beetroot risotto. ASK Italian

Located on Epsom High Street, ASK is a great all-rounder with an extensive menu of classic and modern Italian dishes. It has something to suit every taste from pizzas and pastas to meat and fish dishes (which makes it extremely popular with the kids!).

Its Valentine’s Day three-course meal costs £19.95 and includes plenty of delicious choices and a number of vegan options. They’re also giving you the opportunity to win a Valentine’s Day meal for two; see the website for details.

Derby Arms

The Derby Arms – opposite Epsom racecourse – is going all out this St. Valentines and offering not one, but two specially crafted Valentine’s menus featuring exclusive new dishes!

The standard Valentine’s menu is a three-course set menu for £28.95 per person. This includes a wide variety of very tempting dishes with vegan options for all courses.

The ‘indulgent menu’ (£60 per person) includes five courses with two paired drinks and complimentary handmade Belgian chocolates.

To add even more fizz, they’re offering 20% off selected sparkling wines and champagne.

Yo Sarnie

Usually a daytime venue serving gourmet deli sandwiches, Yo Sarnie on Upper High St has recently launched Fab Fridays. These are after dark events (from 6pm), which offer hearty bistro food served alongside great wine with a big side of music and good vibes.

For £25 per person, diners are treated to a set tasting menu of six small plates (vegetarian and vegan options also available). They’ll be doing a French-themed Fab Friday on February 14th.  Ooo la la!

Le Raj

Le Raj is not your average Indian, it offers a ‘bold and refreshing take on traditional Asian cuisine’ with lots of contemporary and innovative dishes.

This Valentine’s Day you can indulge in an ‘exceptional’ five-course menu, which includes new dishes. It’s £69 per head and there is an optional wine pairing available with each course. Booking is essential and a deposit is required.  Visit the website here.


The Spring Tavern

The Derby Arms’ sister pub, the Spring Tavern in Ewell Village, is offering the same three course standard Valentine’s menu at the same price (£28.95). It has also hand-picked a selection of premium wines and Champagnes, which it’s giving diners the chance to enjoy at special edition prices.

The Neapolitan Kitchen

Housed in a former 16th century Roman tavern in Ewell Village, The Neapolitan Kitchen is a very elegant, but relaxed and inviting restaurant and pizzeria.

Rustic Italian cuisine with a contemporary twist is what it’s all about and it offers an extensive menu. Dishes are very reasonably price and its set menus start at £15.95 for three courses. It’s a perfect venue for a special celebration.  Visit the website here.


This little gem in Ewell Village specialises in Sardinian cuisine and also offers a range of more renowned Italian dishes.

To celebrate the day of amore, Rafayel has a special three-course set menu for £29.90, which offers a selection of classic plates such as flambeed king prawns, lamb shank and seabass (with prawns, brandy and butter sauce) alongside inventive vegetarian treats like Spaghetti al Pesto Rosso e Noci (spaghetti in a creamy sundried tomato sauce and walnuts) and Risotto alla Melagrana (risotto with pomegranate and a touch of leek).

Topo Gigio

A Ewell institution, Topo Gigo has been on the Kingston Road for as long as anyone can remember and is an unashamedly traditional Italian.

For Tuesday to Sunday dinner, the restaurant offers a very reasonably priced three course set menu at £15.95, which has a tremendous choice of starters, mains and desserts. Its à la carte menu is vast and contains so many loved Italian classics… and let’s not forget the wine; the list has over 60 Italian wines covering all of Italy’s regions.  Visit the website here.


No. 12 

Located on Waterhouse Lane in Kingswood, this modern British restaurant was awarded highly commended in the category of Fine Dining Restaurant of the Year 2019 by Time & Leisure.

No. 12 is offering Sharing Specials (as well as usual à la carte) on Friday 14th February and Saturday 15th February with live entertainment on Valentine’s day itself. The sharing dishes are sold on the restaurant’s ‘specials’ menu and are individually priced.

Fancy a bargain? There’s an early bird offer for tables seated between 6pm – 7pm (must vacate table by 8.30pm). Get in sharpish and you’ll receive a complimentary glass of prosecco and 10% off the bill.  Visit the website here.


Ciao Italia

Recently revamped Banstead favourite Ciao Italia has a special three-course Valentine’s set menu for £38 per person (normal à la carte is also available) on February 14th and 15th. The menu includes delights such as pan-friend scallops, pea puree & crispy pancetta, vitello saltimbocca and lobster & gamberoni linguini, with many lovely desserts and plenty of veggie options.  Visit the website here.


People travel from quite a distance to go to this Banstead hotspot, which is renowned for great food and good times!

Its three course Valentine’s Day menu is £60.00 per person and includes some wonderful fare to delight carnivores and herbivores alike: Valentine’s menu. Why not start your celebrations with one of their fantastic cocktails – classic, contemporary or their signature Galu Royale (elderflower, chambord liqueur, lime & chilled Prosecco)?

The Grumpy Mole

The Grumpy Mole in Cheam (one of a number of ‘Grumpy Moles’ in the area) is always an intimate and refined setting for à la carte dining and cosy Sunday lunches.

Whilst there is no specific menu for Valentine’s day, there’ll be plenty of lovely flourishes such as roses on the table and heart-shaped chocolates to get you in the romantic mood. This is the perfect venue to enjoy a more subtle Valentine’s celebration.  Visit the website here.
