LOCAL ITALIAN RESTAURANTS TO VISIT THIS VALENTINE’S…
Posted by Kalli Pasqualucci on 09 Feb 2022
All you need is love… and Italian food (I hope that you sung that)! It is believed, by many, that Italian food = love. Carbs make us happy, and warm – which is very important in these colder months, but the food is also made with love and passion. And feasting is important to Italian people – sharing delicious food is a key component of daily life.
So, with ‘the day of love’ on its way, and whether you’re planning on celebrating love with your family, friends or a special someone, here are some Epsom, Ewell and surrounding area recommendations for Italian restaurants. A lot of them have takeaway options too, for those who can’t/ would prefer not to go out.
My Italian husband had wanted to try Sicily for as long as I can remember, he loves trying out, and supporting, local Italian restaurants. So in Autumn last year we went as a family. The food was delicious, the aperol spritz and wine were perfect, and for a moment, we forgot that we were in Epsom. I’ve also been with friends, and have had a great experience with every visit.
As a family, we love going to ASK Italian (and we’ve snuck some lovely lunchtime dates in too). We don’t usually order pasta when we go out, but every pasta dish that I’ve eaten there is delicious. I also love their pizza, arancini, burrata, Nocellara olives and dough balls. Their lemonade is zesty and refreshing, and their mini puds are my fave – I’m slighly addicted to their blood orange and chocolate tart. The atmosphere is lovely, and the staff are great too.
We have also had fantastic meals at Prezzo, and Pizza Express. And had been hoping to try Pizzerium, I’ve heard such good things about their pizza, but COVID. Do check them out though, we will be soon.
I’ve gone to Neapolitan Kitchen with friends (recently) and my family (not so recently), and we have all thoroughly enjoyed our meals. The food is fantastic, and I’ve always felt like ‘part of the family’ when I’ve visited.
They make delicious pizza – my boys love watching their pizzas being made, but their A la Carte menus is also incredible.
I’ve also been to Topo Gigio, years ago with friends, and really enjoyed the atmosphere and the meal. And although I’ve not tried it yet, an Italian friend (and a lot of other local friends) have HIGHLY recommended Pizzeria Ntunetta, which has just opened in Ewell. Apparently, their pizzas are “the best pizzas in the area”, and are really great value for money. It’s next on our list.
Just Down The Road
Pizza Express Worcester Park is our favourite of all the Pizza Express’ that we’ve visited – the staff are lovely, and the atmosphere is very friendly. We always feel very welcome there. Worcester Park also has a Wildwood, and Terrazzino has great reviews.
I visited Spaghetti Tree for an end of year meal when my son left Year 6 and I really enjoyed every minute of being there. The food was incredible, the atmosphere was fun (there was a singer on the night) and the view over the Mere Pond was stunning.
Their Valentine’s Day Special Menu is available here.
New Malden and Kingston
Our current all-time favourite Italian restaurant is Al Forno, there are branches in Kingston, Wimbledon and New Malden. We have been going to the New Malden branch for over 10 years. The owners are fantastic, the food sublime, and we love visiting.
We really are lucky to have so many options for fantastic Italian restaurants in and around Epsom and Ewell.
