Tuesday, 1st of February is Chinese New Year (aka Lunar New Year) and marks the start of the year of the Tiger. The London celebrations have unfortunately been scaled back for the second year in a row. However, you can still celebrate the with some great Chinese food.
After some research here are some of our finds in and around the area for a tasty banquet fit for an emperor. They all have a food hygiene rating of 4 or above.
The Good Earth, Esher
A staple on Esher High Street for nearly 40 years, The Good Earth offers an extensive meat, seafood, fish and vegetarian menu.

New Regent, Chessington
New Regent offers classic, MSG-free Chinese dishes in a traditional, open-plan restaurant. To celebrate the new year they will be holding a lion dance on Friday, 4th February. Whilst normally closed on a Tuesday, they will be open on Chinese New Year Day.

Bamboo Basket, Epsom
Good things come in small packages! Bamboo Basket may be pretty tiny but it packs a punch with its array of Asian food and clutch of awards. It’s not open in the evenings but makes a great lunch stop/takeaway option.
