LIVE LIFE IN COLOUR WITH TRACEY SALMON MUA #REVIEW…

Posted by Juliet Wheater on 21 Jan 2025

Introducing Tracey Salmon, a local woman who lives her life in colour. A friendly, warm and vibrant character, I was delighted when the Epsom based Make Up Artist invited me to her pretty garden studio, to learn more about how to wear colour. She has teamed up with Epsom based fashion stylist Marsha Mclean Anderson, to offer colour classes for those needing assistance with understanding the palettes that best suit their complexions in both their choice of make up and clothes.

This colour workshop with the duo, was life changing! As a middle-aged mum of two, I like to think I’m reasonably well turned out most of the time and as youngster I certainly wasn’t afraid of colour. For my university prom I wore a turquoise shift dress with a silver thread running through it. In the 90’s I wore a soft lavender jumper with matching mauve eye shadow, hoping it would compliment my pale skin and blue eyes. When it comes to clothes and colour, I have been game for almost anything until I suppose a decade or so ago. Becoming mum, made me forget myself and I kept things simple. Pushing on towards my fifties, I’ve tended to stick to easy neutrals, blending into the background somewhat.

What a lovely invite from Tracey to reignite my love of colour! She and Marsha will be holding more workshops in March.

Marsha kicked off by asking me what colours I was drawn to and it was interesting to note that although I love colour, it is definitely the more muted tones that I like. I have every neutral known to man in my wardrobe and any colour is a pretty pastel!

So we began the process of colour matching with material swatches, starting off with pinks that were vibrant fuchsia to soft baby pink. It was absolutely amazing to see Marsha hold the material directly to my face and for my complexion to respond! As a science it is seemingly quite exact! It either suited or it didn’t! My complexion instantly seemed to illuminate or dull!

There are so many shades in each colour to hold up to your complexion, that during the masterclass you can utterly surmise each exact tone of colour for you!

Having come to understood the colours that suit you best for your wardrobe, Tracey steps in to expertly advise on the colour choices that your make up routine should include. She can advise on the everyday colours to incorporate as well as those that can push the boundaries for a night out or occasion make up. What a lease of life you’ll gain!

Tracey applied beautiful brown to my eyelids, complimenting my baby blues and suggested a bright coral for my lips! Definitely something that I’ll add to my routine! When I asked my rogue question about how to rid myself of my dark under eye circles that have plagued me forever, Tracey cleverly suggested rather than a pale cream colour, I should try a pink concealer. Absolutely genius! It worked an absolute treat.

I can highly recommend Tracey and her Colour Workshops (next dates below). Tracey also specialises in bridal and special occasion makeup, as well as makeup for portfolios, headshots, and runway (at Wimbledon Sustainable Fashion Week).
