This month is LGBT+ History Month! 🏳️‍🌈

Coming out or coming to terms with your sexuality or gender identity can be an isolating and confusing time for young people and their families. Thankfully in the Epsom and Ewell Families area there is a lot of support and help for both children and parents of LGBTQ+ children and teens.

Below is an extensive guide to these services in the area.

Lion is a friendly and informal group based in Banstead supporting parents of LGBT+ children and teens.
LION gives advice and guidance on how to support your children through coming out and offers a monthly meet up where you can meet other parents over coffee or wine and discuss worries, share experiences and celebrate your family within a positive atmosphere.

Outline is an LGBTQ+ Support charity based in Surrey.
Trained volunteers offer support, advice and guidance for those who need to talk or need information regarding LGBTQ+ issues.

A volunteer run group which meets once a month at various locations in Surrey.
Outcrowd provides a safe space for the LGBTQ+ community to meet and discuss any concerns or issues over a drink in an informal atmosphere.

Twister is an LGBTQ+ youth group aimed at 13-19 year olds.
Activities include,  Music, Art, Craft and cooking.
At the beginning of the session those who identify as trans may want to change into clothing which reflects their gender identity.  A youth worker will meet you in a public place such as a coffee shop to discuss whether the group is right for you.

An informal group for 13-19 year olds offering guidance, advice and information on any up and coming LGBTQ events within the Sutton and Epsom area.
A great way to make friends and find out about the LGBTQ community in the area.
Meet ups are every Wednesday between 7pm-9pm.

Gay Surrey is a service which gives information on LGBTQ+ bars, clubs, events and news in the Surrey area.  Events such as social night meet ups and over 30s nights are just a few of the activities that Gay Surrey organise and promote.
