LET THE FUN beGIN @ THE GINISTRY EPSOM #REVIEW…

Posted by Kat Heath on 11 Aug 2023

Let The Good Times BeGIN…on Wednesday evening The Epsom & Ewell Families team had the absolute pleasure of experiencing Epsom’s newest hotspot, The Ginistry, which is located in Epsom Square.

The Ginistry began its journey as a result of two brothers, Andrew and David from Surrey discovering a rusty and rather battered Citroen HY van.  After upcycling the van, the inspired brothers created a travelling gin and tonic bar, serving an array of the country’s finest gins and tonics.  They would travel across the UK, catering to weddings, festivals etc.  The business was a success which prompted them to open a permanent residence in Oxted, Surrey.

This venture again proved to be a success amongst the locals of Oxted and its surrounding areas.  Their USP being that they served a library of gin and tonics to cater to every taste.  This success lead to the brothers opening their second venue (luckily for us) in the heart of Epsom town centre!

Like the Oxted branch there is an extremely welcoming atmosphere as soon as you visit the Ginistry.  The vibrant and quirky interiors compliment the vibrant offerings of gin and tonics and gin based cocktails.  I was in absolute awe of the eclectic mix of local and diverse range of gins they have on offer.  However if you are a stickler for tradition the Ginistry offer renown brands of gin also.

The staff as well as being extremely warm and welcoming had extensive knowledge about every gin and botanical mixer amongst the vast display of gin.  They knew everything about all the key notes in each gin, where it was from, the distillery. You name it.
I was beyond impressed.

We decided to sample a few of the cocktails on offer, however these weren’t all gin based and included:

Dusty Springfield:
Named after the one and only Dusty, this stunning cocktail was fresh and delicious,
consisting of botanist gin, lemon cello and hibiscus syrup it was glamorous and stylish and super easy to drink!

Purple Rain:
Named after the infamous Prince song, Purple Rain was creamy yet refreshing.
Consisting of Aluna rum and crème de violet it was beautiful to look at as well as to drink! Presented with a sprig of lavender. Heavenly.

Let’s Get Fizzical:
Named after the famous Olivia Newton John 1980s hit, this rather sexy Prosecco based cocktail had a hint of Disaronno and a splash of kirch liqueur which reminded us of Christmas.
Very sassy and sparkly.

We also sampled classic gin and tonics from their library of gins including the infamous locally sourced Bathtub gin which is distilled in nearby Tunbridge Wells.  This was mixed with 1724 Indian Tonic and Orange to bring out the cardamom and clove flavour of the gin.  We also ventured to Italy and sampled the Portofino gin mixed with Fever Tree Mediterranean Tonic which naturally complimented the 21 Mediterranean botanicals used to create this super stylish gin.

These were just a couple of the over 100 gins on offer!

However if gin isn’t your thing, worry not! The Ginistry offer an array of alcoholic and non alcoholic alternatives to gin.
Meaning there really is something for everyone!

Owners Andrew and David say;

“ The Ginistry is a haven for gin lovers, connoisseurs and newbies, who have still not got the gin bug.”

With this is in mind The Ginistry is a much needed addition to Epsom High street and provides the ideal spot for after work drinks, pre dinner drinks or a celebration.

We will definitely be back!
