IT DOESN’T HAVE TO BE SOCKS FOR FATHERS DAY
Posted by Juliet Wheater on 10 Jun 2018
Father’s Day soon rolls around again, Sunday 17th June this year and what to get Dad is the age old question!
Before you fall back on the gift of socks or worse, slippers, take some inspiration here and make his day, creating memories as well as a few treats:
If he likes a tipple why not treat him to the hour long Wine & Food Tasting Experience’ at Denbies Vineyard near Dorking. The tour starts with the ‘Indoor Cinema Vineyard Tour’ a brand new flat screen cinema featuring ‘The Vineyard Through the Seasons’. Learn about the geology and history of the estate and experience the changes in the vineyard through the seasons and appreciate the wine making process from vine to bottle. You will find more information on the Denbies website.
Cost: £16.95 pp/group 10+ £15.50/Child 2yrs-17yrs £3 (food adult ticket only) Available all year but book in advance.
Now does Dad like gin? If so, present him with a bottle of Gutsy Monkey by The Gin Kitchen. An amazing artisan distillery which has been operating under the direction of the two founders (both of which are Surrey mums) within a beautiful 170 year old barn on Punchbowl Lane in Dorking.
Gutsy Monkey is a full-bodied, rich and smooth spiced gin, with subtle citrus and complex aromatic highlights. We use bold, earthy Croatian juniper, fresh lime zest, fresh ginger and fresh thyme, a gorgeous Jamaican allspice, coriander seed, black pepper and a touch of cumin for warmth. £49 including free delivery in the UK.
For the man who is forever losing his keys or phone “sigh” this is the ultimate gift and you’ll all soon be able to get out of the door on time!
The second generation tile can be attached to the chosen object which you can search for with your phone if it’s in Bluetooth range. Or if you’re looking for your phone (which is so often the case!) press your tile to make it ring louder to track it down. We found ours at John Lewis for £16. Good luck!
Let’s face it Dads do love a gadget so enter, the high tech wireless speaker. The Sonos PLAY:1 is the latest addition to the Sonos wireless family and features the same high sound quality, now offered within a more compact size. Now stream all your music in any room for wall-to-wall sound, controlled from the app, just like the existing Sonos devices.
Again from John Lewis from £149.
Is Dad a keen golfer? Take him to Topgolf in Addlestone. It’s the perfect place to plan a Father’s Day treat. The whole family can have a go at hitting golf balls at a target, test out the centre’s new Adventure Golf Course, or even play a little Footgolf for a football-golfing hybrid game. Throw in some American-style food, from pulled pork burgers to loaded nachos, and Dad will be in seventh heaven. Something a little closer to home is Jungle Island Adverture Golf at Horton Golf Club.
I’ve also spoken to Dee who tells me there are some fab services on the directory that you could purchase gifts from including gift vouchers from Wine Confidence or purchase a ticket to their upcoming event in July at The Leatherhead Theatre or maybe a ticket to see a show there. Other gifts could be skin care products from Kalli from Tropics which are natural, cruelty-free and plant based, so as good for the environment as well as for Dad. Now if Dad would like to get fit in time for your family summer holiday then a membership with Down2Earth Personal Training could turn that one pack into 6!!! Lastly how about a family shoot with Caroline Thornton Photography, Little Pip Photography or if Dad likes to snap away himself then a photography lesson with JDJ Photography maybe just the thing, lot’s to choose from.
However you choose to say thanks to Dad this year, have a wonderful day together!
