16 INDEPENDENT CAFES AND RESTAURANTS IN EPSOM AND EWELL – FIND THEM AND ENJOY THEM
Posted by Devenia Besant on 08 Oct 2020

Every now and again a post / thread will start running in the Epsom and Ewell Families Facebook group about the lack of independent restaurants and cafes – when in fact we have many so I thought I would do a quick short list of some of those to visit and celebrate.
STARTING OF IN EWELL VILLAGE:
Often described as the heart of Ewell Village this is a super friendly cafe welcoming mums with babies, local entrepreneurs and the elderly in our community, it really is a firm fav for all.
If you love crepes (both sweet and savoury) you will love this place in Ewell Village.
La Familia describe themselves as a Modern Spanish cuisine in a welcoming relaxed atmosphere and would be perfect for any tapas fans.
Also in the Village, Neopolitan Kitchen describe themselves as being an Italian Restaurant featuring a rustic Italian cuisine with a contemporary twist.
MOVING INTO EPSOM:
Jess and the Beanstalk is a family focused coffee shop with a children’s play corner to help customers enjoy great food and drink while the little ones play. They serve sandwiches, salads, breakfasts and cakes. There are also gluten free and vegan options available.
Do you like Jerk Chicken? if this answer to this is yes then you will love their famous Uncle P’s Jerk chicken sandwich using sourdough bread and chicken from Ben’s Butchery opposite on Upper High Street. Other sandwich options include the Steak Sizzler and the New York Pastrimi.
ALSO ON UPPER HIGH STREET YOU WILL FIND:
Minature is a restaurant serving Persian and Iranian cuisine. Out the back you will find hidden away Mono Lounge for those who like Shisha bars.
The food on their instagram feed looks delish from Chicken Souvlaki, Pork Gyros to Falafel Wraps and a selection of salads. This authentic greek eatery has a small seating area and is popular for takeaways.
The Hunger Hatch serve up sandwiches from their deli counter as well as jacket potatoes and panini’s.
As you hit the high street you will stumble across Zig Zag, a welcoming cafe serving baguettes, panini’s, home made soups, crepes, healthy salads and fresh juices.
EPSOM SQUARE:
El Patio (re-opening soon)
For an evening (or lunch time) meal visit El Patio for a great up beat atmosphere and fabulous Spanish tapas food to match.
Street Food
Also in Epsom Square you have street food stalls Jooby (Thai Food) and Exotic Taste (Mauritian Cuisine).
MARKET PLACE:
Organico
Tucked away on the Market Place you have Organico serving roasted coffees, cakes, juices, sandwiches and salads.
Also on the market place and newly opened is Pizza Bar Pizzerium, this is a family friendly place serving up authentic pizzas whilst catering for different dietary needs.
And the last place I’ll mention (just for now) is just outside of the town centre, Lava Lounge on Dorking Road serves up a fusion of Mediterranean inspired dishes with live music on selected days.
That’s it from me but there are many many more and I would love to know of any independents that you love in Epsom and Ewell?
