Hobbledown Happenings: A Whirlwind of Family Fun #Review…

Posted by Sammy Wright on 31 May 2025

This half term I visited Hobbledown with my son and his friend (both aged 11) and my daughter (aged 13).

This was our first trip to Hobbledown, and if I’m honest, with with my children being nearer the upper recommended visiting age (13) I wasn’t sure how long our stay would be or how much there would be for them to do.

Well I am very happy to report that we all had the most amazing day and were there from opening almost until it closed!

Upon arrival there were themed half term activities taking place including Storytime, Dragon Parade and The Merrydown Dance festival. Hobbledown change their themed activities across the year during school holidays, so it’s always worth checking out the schedule which can not only be found online here (https://hobbledown.com/epsom/whats-on/ ) but also signposted as you enter the farm.

Of course as well as the seasonal activities the farm has 50 acres of permanent fixtures including the animal enclosures, outdoor play village, indoor playbarn and lots more. You can also try (weather depending) zorbing, high ropes and climbing towers.

I was really surprised at how many animals there are to see at the farm, and just how close you can get to them in the walk through enclosures.

Our favourites were the Meerkats, the Capybaras and the Goeldi’s Monkeys. We attended 2 of the animal talks which were fantastic, and grabbing a lovely coffee and lemon donut on route kept my energy up for all the walking we were doing!

The play village is amazing and we spent probably an hour and a half playing there before moving on to see more of the larger animals like the camels and alpaca.

There is definitely a lot more to see and do at Hobbledown than I expected. The on-site hospitality was very impressive, including a pizza shack which was brilliant for lunch.

We will definitely be back again, and might even have to book a zookeeper experience. It’s also worth looking at the value for money you can get by purchasing an annual pass – especially as the Hobbledown Annual Pass Sale is officially now on!

All pass types are discounted – including the popular Anytime Annual Pass, now just £105 per child (was £125)!
