HEALED BY TOUCH, EPSOM – REVIEW…

Posted by Hayley Boland on 01 Jul 2021

Spending a lot of time at a computer along with an obsession for the gym I suffer from aching and stiff muscles regularly and when it was suggested that I get a sports massage I shuddered in fear.  I have only had one sports massage in the past and left in tears due to the pain however when I was given the chance to have a session with Tom at Healed by Touch I decided I would be happy to give it another go, I was also put at ease after reading Toms reviews on his website and found his journey to become a therapist very inspiring.

To book my session I contacted Tom via email and he replied promptly offering me a range of times to attend his home clinic near Epsom Downs.  I received a text message to confirm the appointment and a reminder the day before. I also received a COVID-19 form to complete via email.

When I arrived at Tom’s clinic for my treatment, Tom answered wearing a face covering and asked me to sanitise my hands (very Covid Compliant).   Tom then showed me through to his treatment room which was clean and welcoming. As it was my first appointment Tom conducted a thorough consultation and ensured every detail was covered, he asked several questions to capture an overview of my current health. Tom’s knowledge was great and he recommended that we started with a short reflexology session to relax me and then work on my quads and calves and finish with a back and shoulder massage.

Tom made me feel at ease the whole time, he explained how the treatment would be carried out and left me to get changed. There were plenty of large fluffy towels to cover myself with and I felt very cosy.

Tom commenced with reflexology on my feet. Reflexology is a deep, healing foot treatment that is so much more than just a massage. It has many benefits such as helping with relaxation, encouraging the body to heal, aiding digestion and many more. After 15 minutes Tom then explained he would start on my quads and used a serious of rhythmic strokes to ensure my muscles were not tense. He identified several areas of tension and asked me if I was ok with a deeper pressure, and I felt the muscle tension float away. Once Tom had worked on both my quads he then worked on my calves, again explaining what he was doing throughout and checking in to make sure I was ok. Tom then gave me an amazing back, neck and shoulder massage which after a stressful day at work was well needed. After the treatment Tom offered me a glass of water and gave me some time to get changed. We sat down and he talked me through a post massage assessment and gave me recommendations. I left feeling great and the next day I woke up feeling less stressed and most definitely “healed by touch”.  I was pleasantly surprised that Tom sent a follow up email the next day with lots of advice, recommended stretches, links to his articles and a video on massage.

Whether you are an avid gym goer, an officer worker, a busy parent or all of the above I would highly recommend applying some self care and booking a treatment with Tom. Sports massage’s start from £30 for 30 minutes and his other treatments are very reasonably priced.   Tom also offers discount for bulk sessions and not only qualified Sports Massage but also Pregnancy Massage and reflexology and more recently has added baby and child massage and Swedish massage to his offerings.

Booking can be made via his website https://www.healedbytouch.co.uk/ where you will also find lots of useful information on the services he offers along with articles and videos.  Follow this great service on Facebook and Instagram.
