With less than 2 weeks to go until the start of the Epsom and Ewell Arts Festival I caught up with organiser Maria Reeves who gave me a highlight of some of the events happening over the 7 day festival, events listed below:

Storytime and Baby Signing

Free event at Epsom Library, Monday, 2 July 2018 – 10:30am

Reading and baby-signing a range of picture books by favourite authors.
Age 0-3 years

Monkey Music Fun

Free event held at Epsom Library, Tuesday, 3 July 2018 – 10:30am.

Inspire your pre-school children to have musical fun using props, singing and instruments, and learn how music helps children to develop.

Ages 3 months – 4 years


This show has just come from New York. It’s fantastic, quirky dance show for boys and girls – performed indoors on real turf with a short ‘stay and play’ afterwards using the props for the set. It’s all about what’s under the ground beneath your feet

Perfect show for children aged 2-7 years from Second Hand Dance

Join CrocoDali author Lucy Volpin in colour-mixing, story-telling and moustache making.
Saturday, 7 July 2018 – 1:30pm to Sunday, 8 July 2018 – 3:30pm Bourne Hall Library, Age 3-5.

A design workshop for children aged 6-10 will be held at 2.30pm.

Lucy Volpin Ilustration will be doing a short book-signing after each workshop.

Sound of Music 

Saturday, 7 July 2018 – 10:00am to 12:00pm at Bourne Hall, Hands-on musical discovery session for all ages.

Ever wanted to drum-roll but never had the chance? Wished the children could try bowing, strumming, plucking or blowing an instrument without being told off?

The Sound of Music is a wonderful opportunity for everyone to hear and play a range of traditional and unusual instruments, from all over the world. Expect some fabulous, noisy fun.

Entry – pay what you can on the door.

Family Life- Drawing Session

A costumed model in authentic historical outfit from the time of Epsom Spa, will be posing to be drawn.

A fun, creative workshop to get families drawing together, led by an art tutor. All materials will be provided.

Suitable for all ages. Children aged 10 and under must attend with a parent or carer.

Epsom Wells: Street Theatre

Free event in Epsom Square (the square outside Epsom Library) Sunday, 8 July 2018 – 11:00am to 3:00pm.

Family-friendly outdoor street theatre performance of sketches from the famous seventeenth century play, Epsom Wells, directed by  Sally Jane McCormackMatrix Theatre .

Plus family games and stalls. Come along with family or friends and enjoy the atmosphere. Dressing-up in seventeenth century wigs and costumes is encouraged.

This event is being delivered in partnership with Bourne Hall Museum.
