EPSOM AESTHETICS BY MICHELLE – REVIEW…
Posted by Kalli Pasqualucci on 17 Jul 2021
Like most girls, I jump at any opportunity to have a bit of pampering. So I was thrilled to be able to visit Michelle at Epsom Aesthetics.
Michelle operates her treatments from her home, on a quiet road in Epsom, away from the busy-ness of the high street. Her private home salon with off-street parking was very welcoming, and I actually completely forgot that I was visiting someone’s home.
My experience with Epsom Aesthetics started a few days before my treatment, when Michelle welcomed me into her salon for a patch test. Her emails and communication, including pre-treatment care, were fantastic and really appreciated – I suffer with skin sensitivity, so I was a bit nervous about using new products. She went above and beyond to ensure that I hadn’t had any reaction and that I was comfortable.
On the day of treatment, I was welcomed once again by a smiling (behind her mask) Michelle who discussed the plans for the morning.
I was booked in for a DermaQuest Lactic Acid Resurfacer treatment for my face and a Cavitation and Shockwaves treatment for my stomach.
“Resurfacers are superficial exfoliating treatments, meaning they work on the top layer of the skin. They are formulated with a blend of AHAs and BHAs to break down the lipid cement holding the cells together. These generally have no or little downtime. These stimulate the basal layer to encourage cell renewal.”
While I think I have a pretty good skincare regime, this treatment definitely made my skin feel super clean and sparkly, and I had a glow from the resurfacing products.
My lovely refreshing facial treatment was followed by the body treatments. I’ve carried extra weight on my stomach for most of my life, and after having two children (add a lot of stretch marks, extra weight and some loose skin), it is definitely my least favourite part of my body.
That is why we decided to focus the Cavitation and Shockwaves on that area.
“Cavitation uses an ultrasound wave to mechanically disrupt the cell membrane of the fat cell. The ultrasound waves create a vibration within the fat layer, the fat cells do not have the structure capacity to withstand this vibration and the cell membranes will very quickly break down.”
Michelle told me that about the sound waves and how it would work, but I was still surprised to hear the vibrations when the treatment happened. She applied a cold gel onto my skin before using the ultrasound machine to break down the fats in my problem area.
“Shockwave therapy pulses are generated by compressed air inside a cylinder that hits the tip of the hand-piece pushing the energy into the skin.”
This treatment really made me laugh, because it sounds a bit like a jack hammer (from the rapid movement of the hand-piece) but it didn’t feel at all like it sounded. It was really pleasant.
I felt great after the treatments – my skin was glowing, and I lost 5 cms on my stomach area!
Michelle wrapped up the treatment with a bottle of water, and a lot of encouragement to drink as much water as I could today, and some post care advice.
Based on my fantastic treatments, Michelle’s kind and bubbly nature and her beautiful home salon; I can’t wait to book in for another visit soon.
If the sound of my treatments aren’t for you, she also does dermaplaning, Million Dollar facials and carbon peels, treatments using derma and plasma pens, facials, chemical peels, eyelashes and HIFU for the face; and radio frequency, cryo/ fat freeze and HIFEM treatments on the body.
