Who doesn’t love getting into the Christmas spirit with events, markets and fairs? There are lots of festive goodies, brilliant gift ideas, lovely food and drink and there’s plenty of cheer (with or without the mulled wine!).

Sit back, grab a mince pie and take a look at our round up of some of the great Christmas events happening in and around the area and further afield.

The Ashley Centre Christmas Lights On

Saturday 19th November there will be a variety of festive entertainment, music and of course the annual Christmas light switch-on extravaganza at The Ashley Centre, Epsom.

Free entertainment for everyone starts at 3pm offering lots of excitement and fun for the whole family to enjoy leading up to the big switch on at 6pm.

“This year there will be stilt walkers, face painters, balloon modelers, roaming entertainers and more. The extravaganza will start at 6pm by Café Moka and will feature of the stars from the Epsom Playhouse pantomime ‘Dick Whittington’. Ashley Bear and Father Christmas will also join in the fun.”

Southbank Centre’s Winter Market

The lovely Alpine chalets and fairy lights return for Southbank Centre’s Winter Market (3rd November-26th December). You’ll find an array of bars and street food stalls; it’s a real haven for festive indulgence. Think truffle burgers, duck wraps, lobster rolls, gourmet cheese toasties, fondue and raclette plus sweet treats like toasted marshmallows and dutch pancakes alongside mulled wine, hot toddies and hot chocolate.

FREE entry. Sunday–Thursday: 11am–10pm and Friday & Saturday: 11am–11pm.

All Things Nice Christmas Shopping Evening

Shop small, shop local at the All Things Nice Christmas shopping evening on Thursday 24th, November (7-10pm). More details on the Facebook Event Page

The Dylan Strong Foundation Christmas Market

Support The Dylan Strong Foundation at its Christmas market at Tadworth Primary School on Thursday, November 24th (7-9.30pm). Lots of small local businesses will be there with lots of gorgeous items.

It’s £5.00 a ticket online (£7.00 on the door on the night) and this includes a glass of mulled wine and the chance to win a mini Harrods Hamper. All proceeds go directly to The Dylan Strong Foundation ❤️

The Winter Family Festival is on Sunday, 27th November (11am-5pm) in Epsom Market Place and includes:

Kingston Christmas Market

A European-style Christmas market in the heart of Surrey, the Kingston Christmas Market runs from the 10th of November until the 2nd of January. The marketplace and The Alpine Village (located in the grounds of All Saints Church) will be packed full of market stalls selling items perfect for your Christmas gifting as well as great food – everything from bratwurst and hog roasts to street food from across the globe – and drink all amongst the lovely light installations.

There’s plenty of entertainment to be had with a carousel for the kids, classic Christmas carol singers and live music. You can even try your hand at Bavarian curling at the two lanes located in the Alpine Village (book here)

Hyde Park Winter Wonderland 

Winter Wonderland has become somewhat of a Christmas institution. Located in the heart of London in Hyde Park and running from the 18th November to 2nd January, it offers a wide variety of attractions, activities (rides etc), entertainment, food, drinks and more.

There’s a traditional market lined with wooden chalets packed full of unique gifts, handmade Christmas decorations and tempting culinary delights.

Nonsuch Craft Group – Christmas Craft Fair 

The Nonsuch Craft Group is holding its annual fair at Bourne Hall in Ewell Village from Tuesday, 22nd November until Saturday, 3rd December.

All items on sale over the two week period are hand crafted locally by members of the Nonsuch Craft Group. Items include: textiles, pottery, jewellery, honey & jam, wooden goods, glassware, knitting & crochet, greetings cards, Christmas decorations and more.

Free entry. Opening times: 9am to 5pm Tuesday to Friday, 9am to 4pm Saturdays (closed Sunday and Monday).

Ideal Home Show Christmas

Get some serious festive inspiration at the Ideal Home Show Christmas, which is running 23rd-27th November at Olympia, London; from amazing ideas to great gifts and on-trend festive ‘solutions’ for your home.

The Ideal Home Show Christmas brings together over 600 companies and has lots of free talks, workshops and a team of experts on hand as well as entertainment, food and drink.

Banstead Christmas Community Event 








The annual Banstead Christmas Community Event takes place on Thursday, 1st December (5-8pm). Head down to Banstead High Street for its annual day of festive fun and Christmas Light Switch on.

It’ll be packed with activities and goodies to appeal to the whole family; expect to see dancing and carols at the All Saints Church and all of the local business doing their part to add to the festive spirit. There’ll be street entertainment, local dance groups performing, refreshments, shop offers and competitions, raffles, magicians, kids treasure hunt and not forgetting Father Christmas!

As part of the event, there’ll also be the opportunity to take a journey through Narnia (every 15 minute from 5:15pm) at Christ Church.  All free of charge

Lights on Broadway 

A Christmas family event organised by The Stoneleigh Broadway Traders Association to thank the local community for their support throughout the year. This year’s event, Light’s on Broadway, is taking place on Friday, 2nd December from 4pm. Visit Santa’s Grotto within the Scouts Shop, enjoy the fun fair, have a bite from the winter BBQ and enjoy performances from local choirs, bands and dance schools. There’ll be craft and food stalls, and the popular colouring competition returns, so make sure to print and hand in all entries by the 1st December for a chance to win a fantastic family prize.

Hampton Court – Festive Fayre 

From December 2nd until December 4th, Hampton Court Palace courtyards will be transformed into a food-lover’s Christmas wonderland full of delicious artisan food and drink (everything from Christmas pudding to sausages and brownies to churros) as well as stalls brimming with gifts.

Eat, drink, shop and be merry all whilst soaking up the atmosphere and spirit of the season with festive entertainment from the East Front bandstand.

Ewell Village Artisan Market

The popular Ewell Village Artisan Market returns on Saturday, 3rd December (10am – 3pm) and will be the last one before Christmas. I visited November’s and there were already plenty of festive gift ideas on display! There’ll be 20 plus stalls with everything from wooden hand crafted gifts and toys, art, decor, homewares and handmade jewellery to fresh pastries and artisan breads, ladies clothing, accessories, handmade soap and vegan skincare products.

The market is in The Grove (the alleyway between Ewell High St and West St, alongside Ewell Grove School – KT17 1RE).

Epsom Farmers Market

The last Farmers market before Christmas is being held on Sunday, December 4th (9:30am to 1:30pm).

As usual, but with a Christmas focus, you’ll find a huge array of diverse, artisan and locally produced foods and products including: fresh meats, sausages, poultry, game, eggs, fish, fruit & veg, herbs, freshly baked breads, cheeses, pies, cakes and seasonal plants.

Ewell Yule

‘Ewell Yule’ is the annual community Christmas event in Ewell Village. This year it’s taking place on Friday, December 9th (5pm-8.30pm). There’ll be lots of Christmas shopping opportunities, on stage entertainment, activities for the kids, an opportunity to visit Santa and plenty of festive cheer. Check back on the Ewell Yule Facebook page as more details are confirmed.

The Ewell Grove school Christmas Fair will run alongside Ewell Yule for even more festive fun (4-6pm).

Festive Market Place at The Horton Epsom

Find a unique gift in The Horton festive marketplace.

Between 14th – 24th December The Horton’s atrium will be filled with different market stalls selling handcrafted creations from local makers and artists. The stalls will be different each day with a full festive market on Saturday 17th December.  Find out more here.
