CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY #REVIEW

Posted by Kalli Pasqualucci on 22 Nov 2024

It really IS a scene of pure imagination at Epsom Playhouse this week, with Leatherhead Operatic Society’s performance of Charlie and The Chocolate Factory. The show was great and there were brilliant performances all around, but especially from Akhil Gowrinath (Willy Wonka), Elkarose Curry (Charlie Bucket), and Michael Lock (Grandpa Joe).

We were transported to the world of Charlie and the Wonka factory; and taken on the loveliest, most whimsical adventure —from the candy store to Charlie’s home and the splendiferous world of the Wonka Factory – each set was carefully crafted to ease us from location to location.

We laughed, we cried, and we happily enjoyed the well-loved story, songs, and dance numbers. Well done to all the cast.

I think this might have been my favourite performance at Epsom Playhouse to date. But there is still so much to see, including:

Crown Ballet presents The Nutcracker on Saturday 30th November at 2.30 pm

“This eternal seasonal favourite will be an unforgettable journey and an ideal introduction to audiences of any age to the magic that is classical ballet.”

Close Up Magic on Saturday, 30th November at 7.30 pm

“Experience magic in an intimate setting with laughter and gasps going hand-in-hand.”

Epsom Symphony Orchestra: Christmas Concert on Sunday, 1st December at 3 pm

“An afternoon of warming classical Christmas music and pantomime masterpieces.”

Santa’s Christmas Cracker from Saturday, 7th December to Tuesday, 24th December

“Join Father Christmas and friends for a fun, festive, musical adventure to discover the wonder of Christmas – you may even get to pull a cracker with Dotty the Elf!”

Epsom’s 2024 Panto: Cinderella from Saturday, 14th December to Saturday, 4th January

“This enchanting pantomime is generously dusted with heartwarming moments, tummy-tickling comedy, and glitzy costumes galore.”
