By Tegan & Co opened in November 2022 offering a wide range of treatments, from lashes, waxing, nails, semi-permanent make-up, aesthetics, hair extensions and all other general beauty treatments. Open from Monday -Saturday and available late evening appointments during the week, it’s a complete sanctuary and a wonderful oasis away from the stresses of modern life!

Although located within a busy business park, I found a car parking space, no problem at all and was warmly welcomed by Tegan herself. Stepping through the door, my tense shoulders dropped almost immediately! The salon is beautifully decorated in calming colours of jade, cream and a touch of gold for further glamourous vibes and I was whisked away into a treatment room for my bespoke Murad Method Facial.

Although I had heard of the much-loved Murad brand before, I had never experienced any of their treatments before, so was excited to try! Dr Murad is a world renowned dermatologist and pharmacist, and a leading figure in the beauty and skincare industry. Murad was founded in 1989 and was the first brand of clinical skincare products, setting a new standard for high performance skincare.

The concept of the Murad Method Facial, takes the stance that ‘no two complexions are the same, so why would we treat them the same’. Therefore each facial is tailor made to the client’s skin and current concerns. Whilst most traditional facials will address one skin concern, the Murad Method Facial has been developed to address multiple. A results-driven treatment, which at 47 years old, was what I was really after!

Tegan carried out an initial thorough consultation which included questions about my general health and medical history, discussing both primary and secondary skin concerns. Before also having a conversation with me with regard to the Murad wellness chart in which I would rate my lifestyle in the form of how do I handle stress, what is my water intake like, the time I dedicate to exercise etc. I was impressed by this 360 degree approach. Dr Murad’s ethos is of inclusive health, meaning that as much as we can treat the skin from the outside, we need to take care of our mind and body from the inside as this will always reflect what we see on the outside.

Safe in the knowledge that my facial was completely bespoke and personalised to my individual skin needs, Tegan began with a superficial cleanse and steam, followed by a deep cleanse using Murad’s AHA/BHA exfoliating cleanser, to remove any excess oils and dirt in order to resurface and brighten the skin.
Tegan then went on to perform a skin analysis under a magnifying lamp to accurately access my skin and decide which treatment would be most suitable for you.

She opted for the Murad Rapid Exfoliator Peel, consisting of glycolic acid to give a deeper exfoliation in order to boost cellular turnover, hydrate the skin and minimise fine lines and wrinkles.  I was delighted to know that Murad peels require no down time, as Dr Murad has carefully formulated them with other ingredients used to calm and soothe the skin.

Following the peel, was a wonderful face, neck and decolleté massage, using pressure points and lymphatic drainage to reduce any puffiness and encourage the delivery of oxygen, as well as improved hydration of skin cells. Tegan’s expert massage of circular motions was deeply relaxing and calming and I hoped not to nod off!

Next came the soothing cream mask in order to further hydrate and soothe my skin, and to bring it back to its natural PH after the peel. Then Tegan performed another massage on my aching neck and shoulders to relieve any stress and tension, such bliss!

And that was not all! After removing the final mask, I then enjoyed the application of a multi vitamin infusion oil followed by a moisturiser and eye cream suitable, again always suitable for my skin type. I was thrilled with the results of this treatment, I could see a noticeable difference and for days afterwards by skin continued to improve in its luminosity.

These facials are available to book at By Tegan & Co from February, and the salon has an offer running with 15% off during the duration of February 2024. The cost is £70 for a Murad method facial, or £50 for an express peel facial.
By Tegan & Co also offers a back facial for clients with congestion or breakouts on their back which is £60 as well as a Mums on the Glow facial which is a pregnancy facial at a cost of £70.
