Breastfeeding Support groups

Having a baby is a time that is life changing in so many ways.  Even for second, third and fourth time parents you are forever learning what is best for you and your baby.

I gave birth to my second baby, Elliott just over three months ago and there were so many skills I had forgotten from four years before with my first born.  I can vividly remember saying to the midwife at St Helier “How the hell do I change a nappy, how do I ensure safe sleeping and how do I breastfeed?”  I had a complete mental block which explains why many of us end up having more than one child!

As we know for the first six months babies are purely fed on either breast milk or infant formula.
If as a mother you decide to breastfeed your little one there are a number of support groups and drop in centres within the Epsom and Ewell area that can offer advice on:

– Milk stimulation.
– Breastfeeding Techniques, (ie: positioning, latching)
– Understanding feeding cues.
– Expressing breast milk. (Some centres offer a breast pump hiring service)
– How to introduce a bottle/beaker if desired.
– Feeding twins.
– Tongue tie.
– And much more.

They also provide a great way of meeting other mums over a chat and a coffee.
