The cost of a child’s passport is set to surge by nearly 30% from £46 to £58.50 and for an adult passport the price will creep up from £72.50 to £85.

If all approved by parliament the changes will come in to place on the 27th March so not long now.  The changes will apply to postal applications with on-line applications going up in line with inflation for adults – £75.50 and for children – £49.

According to reports the Home Office says it wants to shift the cost of passport services onto travellers to make it less of a burden on taxpayers.  You can find out more about the proposed changes here.
